Liner wrinkles/folds after almost full drain

Unless it’s completely empty you cannot reset it if it has shifted and will just have to live with the wrinkles. It looks a little older, if is brittle at all I wouldn’t attempt to manipulate it. Wrinkles are better than rips!
Refill slowly with the sun shining.
Refill Sooner rather than later- to prevent shrinkage. Old liners just don’t stretch like new ones.
Don’t fill at night or when no one is around to monitor it as it fills.
You generally don’t want to drain lower than 1ft of water remaining or lower than the surrounding ground level in an above ground pool.

Best of luck 🤞

Pentair MiniMax Plus 400 - Pilot light works, burners don't fire

It looks like the corroded connection is the MV (main valve power) connection. PV=pilot valve power and MV/PV= common power connection. It looks like the male spade connection at the gas valve is corroded off. Due to the excessive corrosion of the gas valve, just replacing the gas valve may not be ideal as you may be looking at other problems with the heater that caused this and will need further attention to resolve any other problems with the heater. Best solution would be to have a capable and competent service technician check the heater thoroughly and give you a list of all problems that would need to be addressed in order to operate the heater safely. You might be able to get an approximate age for the heater by checking the labels on some parts as most have a 4 digit code on the label that is a date code. E.g.: 0402 would be 4th month of 2002.

Question on pump.

Your first post said 18x30.
I have a 20x40 with same dimensions. Took me a year to figure out it was actually 29,000.

Go measure the actual depth of the water in the shallow end. The volume of water across the entire top of the pool at that depth has the biggest influence on the volume. If it is 4 feet you are correct. If it is 3 feet, then you are closer to 27,000.
Report shallow depth from tape measure.

Opening chem questions, specifically about white chalky stuff

Could be algae.

Does your pool pass a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test? If not, you have algae and need to follow the SLAM Process

How often do you brush your pool?

What pool cleaner do you use?
I will try the overnight chlorine loss test, but my chlorine is pretty stable. I don’t add much and it stays always 3-5ppm

G,

Welcome to TFP! You've found the best place available for a pool owner in your situation. We don't sell anything and we have real experts and experienced enthusiasts here to help - all unpaid volunteers so our advice is never conflicted. Here's a little reading for you:

Pool Care Basics
PoolMath
I'd get familiar with Pool Math as it will help you figure out what is needed to balance your pool and importantly it calculates your CSI. A couple comments I have with your readings:

  • pH is low. It should always be between 7 and 8. You're close enough that is should increase to 7 soon because most pools have pH rise due to aeration. But use Pool Math to adjust pH in the future and always do the adjustment in multiple steps of .3 pH units at at time. This will help you to over shoot.
  • I'm guessing your TA may be low because you've added a lot of acid. Check to see your fill water TA. It's likely over 50 so it will rise over time.
  • For where we are in the season I like your plan on CYA. Just quit tablets and use only liquid chlorine. I'd save the tablets for when you're on vacation.
  • Your CSI is very low and will improve as you get your pH and TA in order. For example if you get your pH to 7.8 and TA up to 50 your csi will be -.31. CSI is a calculated number not a direct test and for non-salt pools we recommend a range of -.6 to +.6. If you stay within TFP ranges your CSI will stay in range

Get used to using pool math it's a great tool. There is a paid version I use that adds some feature like trending. The free version is a no-brainer. I don't have an answer about the chalky material but we have plenty of experts that will have some ideas for you I'm sure. One thing that will help you and us is for you to create a signature. This saves multiple iterations that delay getting answers to you and help our volunteers be efficient with their time. It's simple here's how.

Good luck with your pool and ask any additional questions you may have we have experts in everything pool.

I have never added acid to my pool.

Just fill the tank.

A liquid propane tank takes thermodynamics to change it to gas and develop gas pressure. You cannot simply turn the pressure up.

The tank needs to be full enough to absorb heat fast enough from the air or ground (if it's buried) to boil the liquid propane in the tank to a gas. In the warmer months this is rarely ever an issue unless a tank is grossly undersized.

You have issues with your LP tank sizing or installation not creating enough gas pressure at lower tank levels to feed your heater.
Thanks for the info, I think my tank should be plenty big enough. It ran fine last year and the year before that. My tank is not buried. I am going to have them come fill it.

What I don’t get is I measured the gas pressure coming into the gas valve on a anolog manometer and it measured at 10in/wc but when the heater starts up and fires it drops to 4in/wc. Wouldn’t that be something wrong with the gas valve if the pressure coming in is at 10in of WC? Some threads I watched said 10 inches of water column is ideal.

Need help before laying out bottom rails of new above ground pool, please.

Kudos to you !
Your 1/2” of smoothing it in a couple spots is more than likely ok 👍🏻
Most manufacturers stipulate it should be within an inch.
obviously you want it as level as possible and you definitely want all the paver tops and all around the bottom rail the exact same level.
In the middle the sand may or may not be helpful with smoothing lol.
Keep in mind that people dish out the middle so a spot or two won’t hurt anything it just may be a little lumpy.
With sand you will end up with some divots at some point anyway.
You can rent a transit/laser level from a big box store if you need to.
We used one to confirm our top rail was maintaining its level as we filled & it was comforting to see.
as far as the gravel dust. It is commonly used although I have no experience there.
@phonedave may shed some light as to how important it may be in your area/with your soil.
A couple notes as you go along on this journey…
While doing everything alone is admirable, putting up a pool wall and a liner alone is not generally recommended for newbies.
This is mainly due to the time it takes to go at it alone. Its kind of a race against the wind and weather so more people/hands is better. The sooner you can start filling the lower your risk of wind damage is. If you must take a break whilst building be sure to secure your walls to help prevent damage (bungees staked into the ground is a common method)
I am sure you have probably watched a million videos but you will probably see this in some of them - along with using rubber tipped clips to temporarily secure the liner as needed.

Never fill at night- just resume filling the following morning once the sun wakes up ☀️
Ideally you would start on the wall early in the morning and be filling the pool by the afternoon when the sun is shining and helping with pliability.
Throw a pool raising party to get help 🎉

You likely already have this bookmarked but I’ll leave it here for you anyway 😊

My understanding is that they can do phone sales but not internet online orders. So just call them and ask their advice for the best robot for your situation. They are very busy so you may need to call back several times or leave a voicemail.
Ensure to tell them you are in Canada.

I got it in
You have a later model “Connected” Master Temp heater with the 6 button control panel and diagnostics on the display instead of LEDs.

When was that heater installed?
2021 is when it was installed. Yes I don’t have the LED lights on the back of the panel like some models. you can see the display in my video. I just have one light that blinks when it’s trying to heat and stays steady when it’s lit. If I get any errors they come on the screen

Slam Plan & Prep Questions

With a CYA of 60, the SLAM FC level should be 24ppm. This needs to be maintained by testing every 4-5 hrs and topping up FC back to the SLAM level.
Thanks for posting your test results.
Your CH is high but is manageable. .

If you vacuum to waste then that will lower CYA and CH. Do you have a main drain? Ensure that is the only suction as you will drain below the skimmers.
Lowering the CYA will then lower your FC level for SLAM.

Removing as much algae by vacuum or by scooping it out is helpful.

Question on pump.

@ajw22 thank you m, will review.

@PoolStored. Shallow end is 4 ft. Deep end is 8ft. I’ve run multiple calculators, getting 3315 gallons. Let me know if I’m doing something wrong.

Sure doesn’t look green to me. Fully realize I need to slam and ensure oclt; however - this picture was taken right at opening. There are debris and it definitely needs a slam - which I will begin tomorrow.

Low Calcium and Calcium Scale

Thanks, that place is the closest, but they don’t have it. Samui takes too long because of the ferry and is expensive too. I usually go to Surat Thani or order online through Lazada.
Do you have an opinion as to what my vacuum is picking up in the photo above? I put it in HCl and it fizzled, which from my reading indicates it is calcium. So I wonder, why am I adding CaCl2 if it seems to be settling on the bottom?
I am also worried that the tiles are being degraded and hope that adding more CaCl2 will stop it. Plus, my pH is always high, so I am constantly adding HCl to bring it down.
