What is the best way to lower water with solid cover on?

I experimented and learned to drain the all rain water up top to save the good stuff at the bottom. The bucket makes it drain from the height of the top of the bucket VS the foot or so down bottom of the pump.

With this method I have increased my spring openings from about 1/3 how i left it to about 2/3. It's a chunk of change with 34k gallons to rebalance.

Weak pump? Build up?

I have a strong spa S61001, and the pump doesn’t seem to be running properly. The jets on one side of the hot tub look to be stronger than the jets on the other side of the hot tub. There’s only one pump on this hot tub. Does this look like calcium buildup in the lines? Could this be why the jets don’t seem as strong? We’ve already checked an air lock, but that didn’t help and we changed to a brand new filter also. Thanks!

Liquid chlorine and vinyl liner

Hey all,

I switched from tabs to liquid this year. I trying to be extremely careful with my liner.

Question, would it be safer to just add the liquid chlorine to a 5 gal bucket of water, mix it, then add to the pool? I would assume this would be safer for the vinyl as opposed to pouring over return and still possibly having some sink to the floor?

Thoughts? Does anyone else do this?

Pentair clean and clear plus leaking near band clamp

On the opposite sides they are all hinged. And yes my spring coils are touching each other. But this is the catch, before every time when I tighten those spring nuts with similar torque there always used to be a nice 1/4 - 1/2 inch gap. But now suddenly for the same tightness there is no gap remaining between the two sides that joins with the spring nuts. It's almost like the band clamp expanded suddenly. I have attached photos for all three sides (Two pics for the hinge joint and one where the spring nut assembly goes).

Boric Acid Test

I am curious why you moderated my link to TPTI? I was not aware links aren't allowed?
I surfed around on it and all the links from the main page had 404 errors and redirected to an unrelated Hasa website. Maybe it shout down and HASA owns them them ?

Anywho I left the name if anyone wished to go surfing for them. (y)

I came to the conclusion that adding boric acid is right for MY pool.
And we're along for the ride. :)

Are you going to go with the drop testing above or 'close enough is close enough' with the test strips ?

ScreenLogic - Activate Schedules?

Scott,

I asked about the egg-timers because you can only have 12 total schedules and that includes the egg-timers not at the default time..

Just to be clear.. Are you saying that at 7 am, your 'High Speed' does not turn green? Or are you saying that your pump does not change speeds?? These are two very different things.

Please tell me what pump speed is associated with your schedules.

I don't understand why you have a 'Pool speed' circuit and a 'Pool' circuit???

I assume you want the Pool Circuit to be on 24/7.. To do that it is best use the same start time and stop time.. Like... 8 am to 8 am. (That should not be your problem..)

Show me a pic of the screen on your EasyTouch..

Thanks,

Jim R.
In your example, neither the High Speed line turns green, nor does the pump increase speed.

As for “ pool speed” vs “pool” circuits - I have no idea - this was how it was setup by the pool company but never really cause an issue so I hadn’t touched it.

Here are the pump speeds:
Pool Speed (1700 RPM)
Day Speed (2400 RPM)
High Speed (3200 RPM)

Can you clarify what you’re looking for within EasyTouch? Something on the control panel itself? I’ve only ever used the screen logic app (except to switch to service mode).

CYA test

Hello! Thank you all so much for helping us become TFP wise! I have a question about testing. When doing the CYA test, the instructions say to read the test when the black dot “just” disappears. The dot gets a little hazy at 70, but doesn’t completely disappear until 50. Is there a way to ensure I’m reading the test correctly? Thank you, I appreciate y’all’s expertise!

IntelliCenter and autocover monitoring

Bumping this thread as it always seems to end...

Has there been a way using the pentair IntelliCenter Control System Pool Cover Expansion Card (P/N 522039Z) to monitor the covers position if it's not a coverstar cover? I have an integra cover on my fiberglass leisure pool.
Would be nice to shunt fountain and waterfall operation and lower salt Gen output while cover is closed.

Easiest way would just be a magnetic reed sensor to relay to the intellicenter that the cover is "open" or in a fully unclosed position.
The released version of the manual shows for a digital encoder to be setup on the non motor end. Can I get one to use on the integra? As it also shows that the analogue inputs are "not used"... Which presumably would be needed for a simple reed switch. Not sure if they are defeated or just not used with encoder wiring.

Any help would be awesome.
I program automation subsystems for a living, So I should be able to figure it out.

Thanks in advance.

Pool jets

Hello all,
We just reopened our pool.
The pool company takes the pool jets out to plug the holes for winterization. They take the entire mechanism out when doing this. Which is the outer thread, the directional eye ball and the pipe that is inside the pool. I tried putting them back in but it doesn't go all the way in to be flush with the pool wall. What should I do? Do I force it in by tapping it in there? Or do people use some kind of grease to slide the mechanism all the way in?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
