Air in the pump basket on low speed (with a 2-speed or Variable Speed Pump (VSP)) may be normal

I don’t know what the pump basket is or what speed they are talking about.
Pump basket is the first picture you posted. If you have a single speed pump, it doesn't apply to you.
If you have a 2 speed pump, or variable speed pump, then it applies.

What causes this?

Yes.

Could be any of them, just go through them in order...
1.

I don’t think it’s the o-ring as that was lubricated when they opened the pool.

2. The filter is only a few weeks old, so don’t think it’s a dirty filter, either. We have been suspicious of algae but it looks like algae plus a dirty filter is a cause, not just algae.

3. Can you help me understand what this means:

Air in the pump basket on low speed (with a 2-speed or Variable Speed Pump (VSP)) may be normal

Hose to return line leaking

1000016826.jpg1000018130.jpg

The first picture shows the old hose attached to the return. It started leaking. Husband trimmed the hose and reattached it but it continued to leak. We got a new hose and added threading. It continued to leak. We got a PVC fitting. It continued to leak. We added silicone. The leak stopped at both ends but the hose won't stay in the PVC fitting. The PVC fitting is the correct measurements. 1-1/2 x 1-1/4. So, we removed the PVC fitting, added more threading tape and silicone and reattached the hose like it was originally (without the PVC fitting). Now we're waiting until tomorrow before turning the pump back on to see if the hose stays on and doesn't leak. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!

This is a doughboy pool.

Run a complete set of tests.
Unless I missed it, your last CH test is from 10 months ago at CH 600. It's likely higher now.

This will assist in giving you an accurate CSI number.
Keep the CSI in the 0.00 to -0.30 (negative 0.30) range to minimize scaling in the SWG.
I redid the rest and the salt is minus 400 today using the kit. We did clean the filters and salt cell, system box saying salt is 2900.

Also ran the other tests. I didn’t have liquids to test the calcium so I took the numbers from the Leslie’s test. I don’t understand the CSI

Wiring help for a CircuPool RJ60+

What model pump do you have?

Do you have a gas heater?

OK, they did not use the standard relay for the filter pump, but that is fine.

You should not put three wires under one screw. When you have three wires to connect you need to use a wire nut or 4-wire WAGO connector to connect the three wires to a pigtail and connect the pigtail to the LOAD screw,

Nothing important...

Nothing important, but Dang... it's been a slow spring! We're still seeing 40's more than half of our overnights, and many days are still failing to climb out of the 50's.

We're used to never swimming much before Memorial Day. But this year it looks like our overnight temperatures are going to be 47 - 50F on MD weekend, with daily highs only in the mid-60's!

What causes this?

Lack of water flow allowed the pump to pull water. Air in returns come from air in the pump, which can come from a couple places.

Here is a section on troubleshooting:

I tried to read that link and wasn’t sure what could be causing it. Could it have been the toy in the skimmer, also? It’s still doing it despite the toy being removed.

Staining on New Plaster less than a year old

Welcome back!

Citric acid will consume more FC than Ascorbic. Both will consume your FC depending on amounts.

We don't trust pool store testing, it is notoriously inaccurate. If we made recommendations on inaccurate testing, we can do harm...we don't want no harm...

I recommend you get one of our recommended test kits. Link-->Test Kits Compared

As to staining, here is your guide.

New here!

Hi everyone. I live in Central Arkansas and have had our pool two seasons, going into the third. I have several questions and hope you guys can help a newbie out!

Should a pool this new have wrinkles in the liner? I've got a dolphin active 20 that has stopped working. Replaced the whole motor assembly, still nothing. One of the led lights is already out. How long should that have lasted? I'll go the the respective forums and post detailed questions when I get a minute.

Staining on New Plaster less than a year old

Does anyone know what causes this? Is it poor plaster installation? I had problems with the PH being high in the beginning and after 3 months the contractor drained and acid washed off all the calcium scaling. The ph has remained balanced ever since.
I just tried Ascorbic acid and citric acid with no improvement. This is the readings post treatment with the citric acid.
