How hard is it to change out this part?

Flip it right side up and you'll see its *used* about 80% of its life. :ROFLMAO: its kinda useless though as we don't even know where the cutoff is. Obviously you could be 80 to 99%, but the light could also come on at 6001 hours of 10k, or 7001 of 10k. So you have between 39.99% and 1% left.

Also, its mounted wrong and its dangerous to have such a flimsy flow switch fighting gravity. It needs to be 'upflow' or horizontal.
That's the way the pool guy put it in because of the way the water flows I assume. Does it matter if the water flows a different way? I would think the threads would be going the wrong way to flip it.

Is there a dangerous pressure level?

These few weeks is high shedding from trees behind our fence (combo of those helicopter things and pollen chunky things). It constantly fills the skimmers but today it happened to fill the pump basket too. The kids are a bit older and like to empty the skimmer baskets but maybe they’re letting too much down into the pump and it can clog it. Pressure reading is normally 22 when clean but it was up at 35 which had me a bit nervous. I cleared all the baskets and pressure was back to normal quickly but it made me wonder how high is too high??

Bought new house with pool, sequence of fixing the problem

Leave the mineral cartridge out.
How are you testing salt level? You stated you do not have a Taylor kit to test salt. Normally the AquaPure sensor is within 500ppm of the actual salt level (when using a Taylor test kit - my experience) - so to be off by 1000ppm tells me however you tested salt level may be off.
I am testing with a pH/salt probe from Amazon that is similar to the one sold by TFtestkits so I guess I'm not sure how accurate it really is compared to the salt cell sensor which says 3000ppm right now.

Featured She's Back! And ready for Season 2...

I’m dismantling the 16-footer and really assessing the damage after two full flips**. My horizontal arms are destroyed. The holes where they clip into the Ts are in awful shape. I’m gonna scrap this one. Save some of the best looking pieces as back ups and call it time for a new purchase. Dang it, Indians weather…
