Mine sometimes has issues with steps, I simply tell it floor only if I’m not around to keep an eye on it.

Pentair Intelliflo vsf pump issues

I'd dry it out and see what happens, but I would not invest money in an 8 year old pump that looks like yours...

I'd replace it with a new IntelliFlo3 for about $1600 bucks.. You'd have to do a little replumbing on the output side..


They also have drop in replacements VSF for about $2K.. But the IntelliFlo3 is a better pump..

Yup and if I were on a sewer and not septic, I would have one installed. I believe they are code now for my area.

I don't want my own sewage backing up in my house, let alone the entire neighborhood and potentially the rest of the city. Pretty sure Mike Rowe did a dirty jobs where they had to clean out a basement where the city sewer backed up into this person's house.

SLAM sanity check

Been maintaining my pool for a couple years, using the TFP method. So far so good.

Last year I opened to a crystal clear pool with 7.4 pH and even a trace of FC left. This year I opened to a green pool, pH around 6.8 and no FC obviously. Got the pH up, and stared the SLAM process. In about 3 days the water was decently clear, and was losing around 3 ppm FC overnight. Vacuumed out all the dead algae, cleaned the filter. So far so good. A couple days later the water is crystal clear, less than 0.5 CC (started at 1.5-2.0 CC), but still burning through the liquid chlorine. It’s been a week and still no end in sight. I top up to 24 ppm FC, and 4 hours later I’m down to 20. I’m still burning like 20 FC a day.

In the past I have SLAMed for minor issues, but didn’t take more than a couple days. Is it typical to take longer than a week even after the water has cleared to finish?

Mine goes up steps but I have not experienced that. I did experience it making spin after spin (pool was still nasty), I pulled it out and it had all sorts of things clogged around the propeller shaft. I cleaned it out and has been fine ever since.

I hear the relay "click", but filter pump will not turn on

When you have a Pentair VSF pump, it should get constant AC power.. The relay should not turn the pump on or off...

The pump should be controlled by the RS-485 com port inside your EasyTouch..

Is there a small cable plugged into the control head on the pump that runs back to the EasyTouch??

Show us a a pic of the display play on the EasyTouch when you think the pump should be running.. Also, look at the pump's display and tell us what it shows...

Are you sure you have a VSF pump.. I ask, because they have no start capacitor, so not sure what you looked at???

New intex 32x16 saltwater pool owner

Just bought and set up a new intext 32x16 ft saltwater pool. Used this site for just about all of my information and advice for setting it up. We used the 4x8 ft sheets of xps foam insulation under the pool and used 2x12 boards cut into 16 inch pieces for under the legs. Just ordered all the materials to build a 16x10ft deck on one of the ends to make entering the pool easier Its an amazing pool and this forum has everything you need to set up your dream pool. So I decided to join and share our journey and help others if they need it.

Really thinking about installing the Hayward skimmer bc the skimmer basket that hangs on the side works but I can't run my robot vacuum bc it knocks it out the pool.

Algae, even if you can't see it yet, can plug up a filter in a few hours..

As others have said... you need to run an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. OCLT

I have to change my salt cell, how do I turn off the water so it’s run to the pump update I’ve changed it but now the more button doesn’t work

There is really only one thing that causes your flow to decrease more and more each day.. A dirty filter.. Just because it was clean, does not mean it is still clean..

Algae, even if you can't see it yet, can plug up a filter in a few hours..

As others have said... you need to run an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. OCLT

i have an EasyTouch and a Pentair VSF pump, that stopped working one day. I checked the Capacitor and it was good. So I checked the panel again. With the Pump (1) press on/green, the VSF comes on witht he panel on top of it. The Pool cleaner (2) works as long as (1) is green, so does the Water Falls (3). So I changed out the relay - G7L-2A-BUBJ-CB-DC24, thinking problem would be sovlved...Same exact issue persists. Nothing has come lose, everything is exactly like it was before the problem. Can someone help? Thanks!
