Pentair Intelliflow turning off when using Intelliconnect

I just opened the pool today and the pump starts, primes, and adjusts to the correct RPM and then shuts off. This happens at the pump console and the Pentair app via Intelliconnect. I removed the pump from the app and it does the same thing. If I put the IntelliConnect into Service mode, the pump works as expected. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? Pentair support won’t answer or perform callback.

Zero issues since original install 4 or 5 years ago. The app has had several revisions so unclear if it’s software related.

Shock/Tingle getting into/out of pool

Besides the temporary bond, I would also disconnect the pump from the bonding to avoid NEV causing any issues with the measurement. That connection is not important for resistance measurement anyway.

Also, I would add measurements between each railing/ladder. If each is connected to the other, then the issue may not be the anchors but somewhere else down the line.

I disconnected the bond wire from the pool pump lug and measured from my railing to the pool water-and still get about 3 volts. Didn't seem to make much of a difference.

I tend to think that suggests it's likely the bind wire that is damaged or disconnected somewhere. Does that sound about right?

Potential for problems under Baja shelf slide?

Ideally, you'd want to move the slide at least weekly to brush and clean the pool surface and the slide itself.

4 months will allow all kinds of stuff to grow under the slide.
That’s what I was worried about but didn’t know how well the contact between the shelf and slide bottom would prevent it. I wanted to be extra lazy when the temps are 110 this summer…guess not

Do we finally have a chlorine puck that won't increase our CYA? Cal-Hypo Tablets/pucks!?!

That entire $40 bucket is 4.75 pounds and will add 21 ppm FC to a pool your size. Compare that to trichlor which requires 2.5 pounds to do the same and would run about $10-15. If you're just using it for vacation it's unlikely avoiding the extra 13 ppm CYA would be worth the cost.

Also note if you ever use it that it cannot be placed in a feeder or floater that has EVER had trichlor in it. Cal-hypo can be very reactive and every year someone joins to ask why their feeder full of cal-hypo exploded.

Pool Gear for a new pool?

At 35,000 gallons I know 1 gallon of liquid chlorine adds 3 PPM to my pool.

The OP has 20,000 gallons. 1/2 gallon of liquid chlorine adds 3ppm. 1/4 gallon adds 1.5 ppm. Put it a few times and you learn about how much is 1/2 gallon or 1/4 gallon. A bit over or under is not a big deal.

Similarly, 1/2 gallon of 31% acid is a 0.4 drop in pH. That lowers my pH 8.0-8.2 to 7.4-7.6.

For the OP 1/4 gallon of acid will lower pH by 0.4

The less handling of acid the better.

Small pools and spas need different techniques. With a large pool you can eyeball most chemical additions with a bit of practice.
Those are some numbers! I will definitely save it, but I think i am a ways off from eyeballing it still. I am still trying to remember what things like CYA mean without having to look them up every time lol.

Pool Gear for a new pool?

Measuring equipment never seems to get mentioned.

Get a cheap kitchen scale. One that will go up to at least a pound.

Get a 2 quart clear plastic pitcher with ounce gradations on the side

Get a clean 5 gallon bucket

The scale is to measure things such as CYA and Baking Soda
The pitcher is for things like bleach and acid
The bucket is for adding acid to water before your put it in your pool (opinions vary on that one - I dilute my acid before adding, others just add it, there are safety and chemical considerations with both ways)

Also handy is a dedicated sample cup. If you are going to run a bunch of tests, it is nice to have a 2-3 cup container that you can use to collect enough pool water at once to run all of the tests as well as rinse out the test cylinders.
Thats a good point and relatively cheap add on. I will get those things on the list.

Pump dead

Hmm, having difficulty locating my motor part# in the cross-reference document which is 193688. Looks like the motor uses a single run capacitor, what I have is 55mF/370V, I suspect it’s not original looking at the cap mfg. date. The parts cross reference lists 50mF as the largest run cap and dimensions/form match what I have, so chances are they slapped 55 instead of 50 which is probably ok, but it would be good to find out the original spec.

Do we finally have a chlorine puck that won't increase our CYA? Cal-Hypo Tablets/pucks!?!

I think these must be new. HTH Brilliance Chlorine Tablets made with 48.4% Calcium Hypochlorite! Do we finally have a chlorine puck that won't increase our CYA? What do you say TFP? I know Calcium Hypochlorite can increase calcium hardness, and slightly increase pH, but it might be a really great solution for those of us without a SWG during vacations or times we can't add daily liquid chlorine. Any other precautions or concerns about it?

I found it at Walmart online, here is the link if you want to check it out. here
They aren’t new. When calcium builds up high enough, the only way to solve that is draining…just like with CYA. The normal pucks are fine for vacations without adding calcium which can cause scaling when it’s gets too high.
