Well, got to wait another 2 weeks before sod being laid unfortunately. Was hoping it would be done this week. Another long 2 weeks ahead.
Tried twice and it won’t prime after 45 seconds. We put the hose pipe in the pump basket and it doesn’t stay filled above the inlet valve, but we filled it to above that level even though it was dropping, closed it and turned it on. After about 20 seconds, the pump basket does start filling up and water even starts splashing to hit the basket cover, but then it lowers again by 45 seconds and I have to cut it off. We had to put on a brand new pump last year, so cautious not to overdo it.Keep it here and update the title as needed for all things opening.
Its fine if the water level is below the pipe opening inside the pump basket. It won't go 'uphill'. Fill the pump basket to the suction pipe height, but not and endless amount of gallons past that, double-check the water level to be mid skimmer height, ensure the appropriate valves are open and let er rip.
If it doesn't prime in 30 to 45 seconds, shut the pump off, refill the basket and try again
True, but the pump would run 24/7 at whatever speed the NC relay was wired to. Would need the breaker, or auxiliary manual switch, to turn the pump off. Only the NO side would be timed.poolman..
The OP's timer has two relays... The 2-speed pump would only use one relay.. I agree that you can't try to use one relay to control the High speed and the other relay to control the Low speed.. That would lead to disaster..
But, if the high and low pump connections are wired to the NO and NC contacts (on the same relay). it would be impossible for the relay to be in both the NO and NC positions at the same time.
Kind of why I asked the OP what else the timer was controlling besides the 2-speed pump, but I have yet to see the answer.
If the OP is trying to use both relays to control the 2-speed pump, then that is totally the wrong way to do it.
Thanks,
Jim R.
With an excellent VSP and a SWCG (saltwater chlorine generator), I would operate 24/7 at slow speed. I have a relatively efficient system and can operate continuously at 75W, which uses $5/month in electricity. I like the constant chlorination, skimming, circulation, and filtering.Anyone have suggestions on a daily program using these terms?
They've definitely become more popular up north but most still don't want to spend as much with such short seasons.I am curious as to why a plaster pool is unlikely in Pennsylvania
Will you install unions on your pump and other equipment?I understand the use of the threaded connections at the pump for the ease of removing them
I never plan to dig up my main drain
Consider deleting the main drain to eliminate the risk of a leak there. What is the best plan for getting these set and to never leak?
It is a heat pump of unknown model under discussion. They don’t scale.Have you looked into the possibility of excessive scale buildup in the heat exchanger? Also confirm that the external coils are clear of pollen and debris.
Hi Newdude - Just a quick juke. I am curious as to why a plaster pool is unlikely in Pennsylvania. It could even always be plaster but probably not in PA.
I gambled it was shot, and was wrong. If I gambled i could easily fix it, I'd also be wrong. Freaking Murphys, i tellyawhut.taking things apart, then learning you have a bigged/different problem that you know have to scramble to get parts for / figure out.![]()

Hey @Newdude ! Follow up question for you; let me know if I should make a new post. I’ve followed all steps: plugs removed, valves are open, multiport in filter position and valve opened on top of the sand filter. Lots of air was released but no water is “passively coming into the pump basket” and then filling up the sand filter. I swear I remember previously it did. I am REALLY nervous to cut it on.I KNOW !!!
My favorite part of this time of year is always getting the band back together. Welcome back.![]()
Very well! You've got the right idea. There's a correct glue/primer for the job but it is very much normal to use those valves with schedule 40 PVC.
With the black/red wires unplugged, I measured 6 VDC steady state, and then transient spike to 10 VDC (only 8 VDC on other polarity) when forcing SWG on with a polarity change in DIAGNOSTIC menu.Again, try this while either the black or red leads are disconnected so there is no load on the transformer and rectifiers.
Only some of the board traces. BTW, one of the yellow directly connects to the nearby orange. It is only one pair of yellow and orange that go through the K1 relay.
The PDF I posted is for the AquaLogic:

I thought you couldn't do that? Or you just need to use the Oaty All Purpose Cement or the Orange Stuff?

Or you just need to use the Oaty All Purpose Cement or the Orange Stuff?3 way diverters are in the $50 range these days from Jandy / Pentair / Hayward and are worth every last penny because they are rebuildable. The irony is they usually last a generation and don't need the rebuilding that cheap ball valves do, which can't be rebuilt. It's a PITA to have to replumb those every few years.

It does look kinda low.The light looks low.
Is the panel upside down?
