Just started testing - what to add

So I just tested my water for the first time using the TF-100 test kit. Results:

FC = 6 ppm
CC = 0 ppm
TA = 130 ppm
Ph = 8.0 ppm
Chlorine = 4

I have always had a locally owned pool company service my pool, but due to costs I decided to due it on my own
Pool - 28,000 gallon salt pool
Intellchlor is set to 80%
I am currently running the system for 8 hours per day

I am thinking I need to add about a gallon of acid. Cut the Intellichlor to 60%. Anything else? The pool looks nice and clear. Thanks

New to SWG

There is really very little difference between your pool now, and after you add the SWCG.. Instead of manually adding chlorine, the SWCG will just do that for you.

You just need to understand how your SWCG works.. They are basically dumb as rocks, because they have no brain.. You must be the cell's brain. It is up to you to routinely test your FC level and then adjust the cell's output up or down depending on the results..

You might want to initially test more often, and then as you get to know your pool, you can can test less and less..

It is best to try not to micromanage your SWCG. Trying to maintain a specific FC number each day is impossible.. It is easier to keep your FC at or above your Target FC.. Never try to keep your FC between your minimum and your Target.

I love my saltwater pool and I think you will love yours also.. :goodjob:

Working with an HOA Pool!

Hi all, my name is Brian and I am working with a committee of individuals running an HOA Pool in the St Louis area. We just had it replastered so currently going through the daily brushing process. We have found that vacuuming the pool is a challenge with different hands being involved, not trusting how much air will get sucked into the filter system. We are now on the hunt for a pool bot. Here to learn about bots as well as any other topics that come up while caring for a pool this summer.

Clearing up a mesh-covered pool after a soft opening

We are getting ready to do a soft opening and our water is already green. We've got trees next to our pool that drop seeds into the pool until early June so we normally do a soft opening to prevent the pool from turning green until the seeds stop dropping. We waited too late to do the soft opening this year due to an illness and now I don't know what to do. If I could get the pool to clear up some by by doing a SLAM with liquid chlorine, I'd like to do it. I could keep the pool cover unattached near the deep end return so I can test the water and add chlorine. If this won't likely work, I guess we will skip the soft opening and just wait a few weeks to open up the pool when the seeds stop dropping. The water will likely be dark green by then since its so warm and I worry that permanent staining could occur. Opening the pool and taking the cover off now is not an option that I'm willing to deal with because the seeds will clog the filter and it will be hard to clear it up.

Best thing to do is get out the tape measure. It looks tight. The cell is 15 3/4 inches and the flow switch is 4 inches. Id want 2 feet between the elbow and the jandy valve to feel safe doing the plumbing where the flow switch is after the cell per the manual. Hopefully you have the room. Theres plent of installation videos online to watch also before you dive into it.

Treating iron stains-
Just opened pool it has zero chlorine per our guy. According to the AA TREATMENT I should add and metal free algeacide first ( but how much 20k pool) there is no visible algae. Then I ad up to 2 pounds OF AA followed by a flockulant ( how much) run pump without cartridge 24 hours and slowly bring up chlorine and keep ph under 7.2

Yeah but you weren't one of us yet, and now you are. So you have that going for you, which is nice.

When the time comes to close, get a thread going and tag me, @PoolStored, @Mdragger88 and/or anyone else you meet along the way who would be happy to help, and we'll hatch a plan to give you your best chances at opening. (We'd probably all see your thread if you post one, but tag us just in case we missed it).

Has anyone ran this pool skimming robot ?

Hey Gang , we get so much stuff blowing off the neighbours trees , clogs the skimmer basket etc . Saw this on sale at Best Buy Canada. Ours is 36x18 vinyl liner with soft corners ( like they are not tight to the wall) Wondering if this little guy would be ok in our pool , or is there a better option In similar price ? Thanks 🙏

I'll get 6 more bags tonight (probably need 5) and continue bottle feeding LC until I get a salt test in the 3000's after a 24hr wait. Then fire up the SWG

I was concerned about CSI. Currently in my pool, if I lowered the PH from 7.8 to 7.4 the CSI would drop to -0.70. Probably in the OP case it won't matter much - with his TA the PH will rise pretty quickly.
