Yellow pH sample slowly turns purple

Free chlorine was 8 and CYA was 0 (semi public pool (apartment) with liquid chlorine system).
Is 8 ppm acceptable for that commercial pool?

8 ppm with 0 CYA is pretty harsh on bathers.

Is the liquid chlorine feeder also automated?

Is it on ORP control?

What was the ORP setting and reading?

Is that feeder also overfeeding?

Yellow pH sample slowly turns purple

At the time I took the readings yesterday, the acid feeder had been running and reading 7.2, so was not properly calibrated and had fed too much acid in.
Normally, the problem is caused by trichlor use, which is why I was thinking high CYA.

An overactive acid feeder is a less common cause of readings like this.

Definitely need better maintenance, training and oversight on the automatic feeders.

There have been some serious accidents caused by feeders going berserk and dumping acid and/or chlorine into a commercial pool causing many injuries.

Do I even need a valve?

I used palmetto sand from a local pool place - it has been fine.
I did find this info

Lots of folks here have used the hth just fine. Or no name stuff from a local pool store that just says #20

No info found on the aquaquartz so far.

I will be sure to pass along the graphic about the mystic white (that there are multiple versions) going forward.
Sorry this happened but better now than after you loaded it up and had a mess to deal with!

I haven't yet ran the system. I have the one Mystic White II opened, that's when I noticed, so that one bag I will use in the filter. Weirdly, the Aquaquartz looks to be the same size, so now I'm confused.
Returning the Mystic White II is also 5 boxes for Fedex, I don't even know if it's worth the $70 savings (about $14 delta in the Aquaquartz and MW II). Aquaquartz is what Doheny's recommends/requires. Leslie sells it too, the one made by Covia.

Does backwashing first and then running it properly settle the grains in a way they don't get through the laterals after the initial start? Otherwise I think I'd have issues with all #20 sands out there regardless of manufacturer.

Idea is this - I have a few yards of sandy 9s. Apparently this is a normal landscaping term/sizing and it should be somewhere between sand and pea gravel. I think pea gravel is used sometimes as a buffer.

What if I used a couple of inches of the sandy 9s (washed and cleaned before using) and then doing a standard sand bed? That should help prevent some of the blow-by?
See pic. MW II is the white, sandy 9s is the darker stuff, lateral on the side for reference.

Betta SE Plus skimmer robot and Ladders?

Does it get close to the edges of the pool? We're due for an onslaught of that fluffy stuff from the cottonwood trees and it has a habit of clinging to the pool's edges.
My pool is freeform, so it is mostly curves. The bot spends a lot of time up against the tile working the edges. It's got little wheels up front that keep it from bouncing off. Does a real good job on the edges.

Well Water and Slam

Ok, I re-read the instructions and I was supposed to get the water from 1 foot from the top instead of the just the top, so I re-ran the tests(and 2 hours later) and got the following results

FC=18
CC=1
CYA=60

So it looks like that Slam level is 24, so I'll add enough to move it up to 24.

Also wondering if maybe circulation isn't great because I have the skimmer on and robot on the return. Maybe I'll turn those off to improve water movement.

AGP gasket replacement question.

IMG_6212.jpegI m replacing the gasket.
Confusion on the outside if the cork goes against the pool wall and the rubber against the cork?
Or the other way around.
All videos on YouTube show it different first LOL
And IMG_6212.jpegIMG_6208.pngI read the comments and half say cork against pool and half say rubber.
They say to also not follow the instructions that are wrong.
I suspect cork against pool wall then rubber against cork.

Nature2 Fusion Mineral Sanitation System help needed

You have come to/ stumbled on the answer to your pool questions. TFP doesn't espouse the use of minerals regardless of what any pool builder swears by. This forum is science based and focuses on the chlorine/CYA relationship to keep a pool clean and sanitized. No chlorine tablets, no pool stores, no weirdly low FC levels dictated by a manufacturer. Just science facts. Read through the following links to understand how this can help you. You'll find the recommended PoolMath app to be more conducive to tracking your pool than ANY AI bot.

NEED POOL CLEAR QUICK

I will post a full chemical reading tonight. Attached is a picture of the pool after maintaining slam levels for several days with the pump running 24/7. I also was able to scoop out a 5 gallon bucket full of debris from the bottom. The milky picture is what it looks like when I came home from work and the green picture is what it looks like immediately after brushing it.
We have hired a company to help us however, it seems like they are just dumping chemicals in and not brushing or any other cleaning things and they are only coming sporadically once every few days so not super helpful.

As for all the insurance questions, I have clarified multiple times with them and all they need is a picture of clean water so we can see the bottom most likely to do with if anyone was to fall in it we’d be able to see them and prevent drowning issues. They are aware that we are under contract with the pool contractor however rules are rules and they will not provide any extensions. We also really need this insurance company as they are quoted 2 grand less than all other insurance companies because we live on the East Coast and hurricanes are causing a lot of premiums to go up and a lot of companies to pull out of this area. And to whoever said, I should post an AI picture believe me I wish I could but that’s fraud and super illegal.
Also there is now a clog in the skimmer line so pulling everything through main drain & hot tub drain.

I really like how it works on smaller debris. Really keeps the pool surface clear. I did put a small piece of foam in the middle of the skimmer to keep the bot from getting stuck. Haven't had a problem since.

Help me switch to proper maintenance please

So for now should i just keep vaccuming the pool and get the filters clean until my test kit arrives (ordered 2 hours ago) or is there something i should do to prepare other than keeping some chlorine levels rolling?

Wait until you have your test kit and post a complete set of tests and then we can see what your situation is.

Ordered basically all chemicals that i dont have at home just now too so I should be ready other than those 1 offs.

Pump Losing Pressure - Need Additional Ideas

What's happening inside of the skimmer basket when the pump is trying to prime?

How far away is your equipment pad from poolside?
water remains still - there is little suction in the basket. Originally, if there were leaves in the skimmer area, it would get sucked down to the bottom of the basket. Since this issue has arisen, the leaves remain floating in the skimmer basket and are not pulled down.
Equipment is roughly 20 feet from the skimmer basket and ~8-10 feet from the pool

Help me switch to proper maintenance please

Ok yes grabbed the pro kit with slam and starter guide. I do plan to switch all methods to this method I do not want to mix and match. I may just toss the existing chemicals to my brother then.

What i meant by the above also mentioned on this site when buying the kit that the tests arent hard to read. I was making sure as aquarium testing an cheap pool tests will have 50 shades of blue. You answered my question though stating that the test colors swap from one extreme to the next. those are alot easier to read then the cheap ones.

So for now should i just keep vaccuming the pool and get the filters clean until my test kit arrives (ordered 2 hours ago) or is there something i should do to prepare other than keeping some chlorine levels rolling?

Hopefully this will be the last method i need to use and stick with moving forward so i want to do it right.

Welcome to TFP.

You need to decide if you want to use TFP pool care methods or methods from others like Zodiac.

You always have a choice. It is your pool, not your PB or Zodiacs.

I will simply tell you they do not work long term. If you want to give it a try we will be here when you look for a better way.
