Leaking at multiport valve

My hubby replaced the sand in our pool. He can't get water to stop leaking around the clamp area of the MPV. It is a pentair valve 261886. I called the co. For help but they couldn't find the valve on their website even though I was able to bring it up. Anyway, hubby doesn't remember where the Oring was located on the valve as it connects to the filter. Can anyone help before he blows up my pool?

Brown Spots on Pebble from Leaves

Pictures help.

The stains didn't get there overnight. Expecting them to be gone overnight is not realistic.

So, if the stains lightened with the tablets, that indicates they are iron. An ascorbic Acid treatment would be my next step

What do you suggest? I found a chemical called A+ stain remover as well as a product from Chlorox to remove metals.
I have no idea what "A+ stain remover" is nor do I have any idea what the Chlorox stain remover is.

Stay away from "Magic bullets". Do the ascorbic acid treatment and report your results

Gas vs normal exhaust smell on mastertemp 125 heater

I have a customer that is complaining of a gas smell from the exhaust of a relatively new Mastertemp 125. I'm not quite sure if it's actual gas, or just the smell of the exhaust. I don't know that my nose is sensitive enough. To me, it just smelled like exhaust. The gas pressure reads fine, it's outdoors (well ventilated). What are some other possible explanations for this. Is a gas sniffer the best option to test this out? Is it normal for some minor or minute amount of gas to always come through the exhaust?

air leak repair

Looks like I have an air leak in my system even though on my opening thread, opening 2025 I mentioned things went smoothly. I just checked and while everything looks good (except the psi) when the pump is running, once I stop the pump for a minute and then restart it, you can see air bubbles in the returns. So obviously air is getting into the system, when the pump is off.

I put my ear to the various possible leak locations when the pump is off and couldn't hear anything. I also put water on them and didn't see bubbles. Although maybe that's just for air leaking out like on a tire. This issue is air leaking in.

I have a bunch of possible leaks and want to get some advice on how to diagnose and fix the problem. I am going to try to attack the issue one by one from easiest to hardest.

1. I have a rubber plug on the waste output which is a threaded pipe. This is how it was when I inherited the system and I have been too naïve to fix it. I guess I have been relying to much on if its not broken then don't fix it. I don't know the sizing of this. Anyone can tell from the picture. My system is 1.5" pvc. This has threads in it.
2. Close of chlorinator holes. I asked previously here if anyone knew how to find plugs for these lines. No one has replied, so I will keep searching.
3. Lubing pump lid gasket.
4. I did lube up the drain plugs on the pump, but I will try reseating them.
5. replacing the pressure gauge and the assembly that connects it to the filter shell.
6. Resealing separation tank lid
7. reseating the plumbing line connections to the pump
8. reseating the water viewer on the multiport
9. Looking into the pipe that goes from multi port to separation tank. That has always had a small drip. It makes sense that would be the issue, except its worked fine like that in past years.
10. multiport maintenance.

I guess is this where I need a lot of help. What would you guys recommend. Should I call someone to do maintenance on it? I feel like if i tried that they would have no clue what to do or mess it up. Or should I buy a gasket and try to replace it myself? I saw a video on it and it looked hard. Or should I buy a new multi port and have someone install it or try installing myself? I need a plan of attack that doesn't leave me without a pump for a few days, so cost may have to take a back seat.

New pool owner trying to understand test strip reading

There is also a procedure for your HP to adjust Delta T to ensure proper flow...Did the builder do that? What RPM did they say would give you 30GPM.
But you may not have the ports...did they install them? Temperature Port Kit (# STK0096)
See Page 13.
This was my pool builders response when I sent him what you said:

“I did not install one of those. I’m not sure if there’s one in the Heat Pump or not I’ve never actually seen one of those before on all of the pools I’ve ever worked on and I sent it to a friend of mine to see if he’s ever seen one, he said he’s never seen one either.“

Pool Heater Suggestion in North Texas

Yes, natural gas and would go with a gas heater ad my off the cuff choice.
You will likely need a larger gas meter. And, a large gas line will be needed at the equipment pad, so add that cost in to the install.
Sta-Rite Max-E-Therm, Pentair MasterTemp (same heater, different enclosure), Jandy JXi. You want 400K BTU to heat as fast as possible. It doesn't cost more to heat with a larger heater, they are just more convenient. Same applies to a heat pump.

Sta-rite Max E Therm 333HD

Yes there's automation but I disconnected the heater wire and twisted both together bypassing the eztouch.
If the thermister has never been replaced, I would suspect that is the problem. Pull it out, it is probably cracked or corroded. I've replaced at least 100 over the years. Some even look to be new, but internally they are no good. Easy repair and doesn't cost much.

CYA questions

I am the proud owner of 2 pools. The 16000 gal inground vinyl in Iowa which obviously has to be winterized. About 30% of the water is removed in the fall and replaced with fresh water in the spring. Each spring I add 1 to 2 gallons of stabilizer to achieve 30 to 40 ppm cya. 4 3" tabs per week in the chlorinator and 2 gal liquid shock per week. Ph and TAdrift to the low side occasionally and must be adjusted. CYA stays 30 to 50 ppm.
The 16000 gal inground pebble tech pool in Oro Valley (Tucson) Az. is bydifferent. I have come to the conclusion I can not get an accurate CYA reading for this pool. The ph raises over time and with that the CYA reading also increases. Ph does not affect actual CYA levels, but seems to affect the concentration analysis. When ph is 7.2 to 7.4, CYA is 40 to 50 ppm. If ph is 8.0 or above, CYA is 80 to 90 ppm. I try to monitor the pool water for signs of high CYA concentration such as chlorine lock. If evident I will drain and re fill with fresh water. Costs about $100. I use both

Review | Aqua Products EVO 614 iQ

I own the Evo 604 and am running into this problem now - conveniently right before the swimming season begins!

The LED lights and button work for the cleaning mode but the Power LED no longer illuminates and I get no movement when trying to run a cleaning cycle. Seems like no power being delivered at all and I’m fairly convinced it’s the control unit.

Did you have any success reaching out to their support? Approximately how long did it take to get a replacement?

Did AA treatment, do I need to use Polyfill?

Hi all, a few months back when it was cold I did an ascorbic acid treatment and it was very successful in removing iron staining I had which formed from a hurricane dumping red dirt into my pool. During the AA process, I used Jacks magic Purple Stuff as I have a SWG. Now that we are past the pollen season, I cleaned filters a few weeks back and am seeing microscopic floating particles all over the surface of the pool. Too small to effectively take a photo with.

I am not sure if this is another type of pollen falling from mother nature or perhaps the iron that was lifted from the AA treatment. I read about using Polyfill, not sure if that is what I need to do to properly filter out the metal, if that is what this is. I am not sure if using polyfill is a requirment of the AA process.

Pool is 10 months old so I have not been through the full pollen season to know if these microscopic particles are normal for this time of year, but seem too small for my filter to remove. Appreciate any guidance.

All chems are 100% perfect, very blue pool, no staining.
