Coming up on the first year of my Sundance 880, learned a lot along the way, but have a few more questions...

I expect the plastic to fade a little over time.

Two of use our tub every day. I add 2 oz liquid chlorine am and pm. I think you will be much happier adding small amount of chlorine daily.

I use Aqua Finesse on a weekly basis. I purge every 6 months with AhhSome gel.

Pool plumbing re-routing help

I read that a salt cell should be at least 3 feet from the heater and shouldnt have too many turns.
With a simple setup like yours and tons of flow, my 1st SWG was 90-d right to my heater.

+1 to going vertical, but make sure to mount the IC30 on the upflow side. The internal flow switch always needs gravity to open it when it fails, not to close it.

Swg FC from 4 to 14 in a day and a half

Its often experienced that Circupool inflates their production #s and all, but they cliam your core 35 will make 16 ppm per 24 hours for you. It's good and oversized and requires little runtime which will extend its lifespan.

Go to the upper left menu in poolmath and select effects of adding. Select swg, your model and calculate for FC.

Mess with various combos of % and/or time to see the output. During the peak season 4 or 5 ppm per day is all you'll need.

Pool plumbing re-routing help

I'm still a newbie, so maybe I'm getting things wrong. So, others will chime in.
First, I don't see more pictures, only one.

Regardless, you want to make sure the SWCG (Salt Water Chlorine Generator) is after the heater. The device takes salty water, and converts it to chlorinated water. I guess it's bad to have the heavy amount of chlorine in the heater, so that's why it comes after the heater.
Usually you'll use a check valve, which is a one-way valve, after the heater and before the SWCG. That way, if the pump is off or whatever the case, (freshly chlorinated) water doesn't go backwards back into the heater. Don't know if distance is a huge issue, but that check valve will do what your 'several feet' was doing, but probably better. (I'm in the process of doing the same thing, different SWCG, and I'm going to use a check valve with flow meter built in, so I can check how much water is going through.)

I have seen lots of people do their SWCG vertical, especially with not much room, so it would look something like below.

Aquaterra FLO Error, Now Flashing + Won't Start

My 4 person spa started showing a FLO error. The water level was a little low, so I unplugged it, added more water, took out the filter, and went to start it up again.

It wouldn't start up, and instead the control panel just started flashing.

Called Aquaterra and they said I needed a new control box. I'm wary of ordering a $600 part if that *isn't* the issue.

The spa will not turn on at all other than to flash the light on the control panel. Nothing written there.

I've been using my spa at least 3-4x/week for the past 2-1/2 years. I miss her.

I also plan to move within the next month and am wondering if it's better to move her and then deal with it.

Any advice/tips?

Swg FC from 4 to 14 in a day and a half

Hi all,
Would appreciate some suggestions. I'm new to SWG and we just turned it on for the first time about 36 hrs ago. All parameters are/were in range. I run my pump 24/7 @ 1200 rpm and had set the SWG for 50%. Wow! FC rose from 4 to 14 points in a day and a half and the pH rose up from 7.8 to 8.1. I'm going to lower the percentage to the lowest (25%) and I added 16 oz. 31.45% muriatic acid.

Pentair CCP Filter lifespan (actual filter not cartridges)

Simple routine inspection should suffice - the solid body of the filter is not going to suddenly explode, things just don’t happen like that. What will fail are areas of penetration and threaded connections. So simply inspect all connections for moisture or drips, check the main body seal for leaks, and keep an eye on the air relief valve and pressure gauge. Those are the areas of tank failure. The internal manifold and filter elements can fail as well but that typically shows up as reduced filtration performance or dirty water coming from the returns. The internal parts of a filter aren’t cheap but can be replaced. Whether or not it’s worth doing or installing a new filter is a judgment call only you can make.

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

That’s basically what I’m going to do as well. Once there’s no chance of freezing and the ice is melted (I peeked last weekend and it’s about 3 inches thick), I’ll get the water pumping and hit it with some chlorine but keep the cover on until May.
I am realizing that I am the opposite lol. But I’ve always been an early opener. If our cover wasn’t about to get blown all the way to Canada this weekend (it is in BAD shape….rough winter + pool pillow deflating), I’d keep the cover on until opening day, which is whenever the freezing temps are pretty much over (any time between mid-March and April). After finally pumping almost all the water off the cover yesterday, I said IT IS COMING OFF after seeing all the rain coming plus over 45 mph winds. I don’t know what the FC is but I messed up at closing and added double what I was supposed to lol so I think it is safe until next weekend.

Coming up on the first year of my Sundance 880, learned a lot along the way, but have a few more questions...

This sure has been a learning experience and I have learned all of my information from here, so thank you all for that! After a lot of testing, I have found this strategy to work mostly well for me.

-Once CYA level reaches 30-40 using dichlor I switch to liquid chlorine.
-We use the two of us use the tub a lot and after each use I add about 3oz of chlorine.
-Rince filters with hose every month or so
-I have to add more chlorine every 3-days between use otherwise the water gets cloudy and lots of bubbles. I can usually get it back down after a few days of keeping chlorine at or near SLAM levels.
-Change water every 4 months or so using an Ahhhhsome purge

The questions I have:

-Is it normal for the plastic on the filters to fade some? I noticed mine are doing that and I am not sure if that is a sign of something wrong with the chemistry. Assuming it is just from chlorine.
-The cap on the inner filter came unglued today. What could cause that? Time for a replacement I guess.
-Does adding 3oz every 3-days seem too often? If it goes to 4-5 days all havoc breaks loose. I thought having the UV ozone thingy would help, but I guess not. I did read the AC would help with that which is why I am considering that now, but is is expensive
-Is there a better way to clean the filters rather than rinsing with hose?
-How often do you replace your filters? The price of these add up quickly if I follow the manufactures directions.
-I started reading about the Aqua clarity from the same company that makes ahhhsome. Sounds to be promising. Any feedback on that? Is it more cost effective to use the Gel for purges and the AC for daily maintenance?
.

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

We have 5 seasons here - spring, summer, fall, winter and then pollen season. Pine pollen season will be starting soon. It's bad here. You could wash your car and then come back 5 minutes later and it won't look like you washed it. The cover stays on until the pine pollen subsides. Otherwise I would need to backflush daily. Then the maple trees drop their twirly helicopter seeds and the sweetgums drop their pollen heads. The cover stays on to try to keep the pool clean.
Pollen season is BRUTAL!!!! I don’t know if you use skimmer socks or not, but they are a lifesaver! Yes, a lot of it will still get through the socks and the filter, but I am always amazed when I go outside daily to change the skimmer sock. It collects a huge amount of pollen and other junk that would otherwise make its way into the filter. I have a cartridge filter, though. My first filtration system was sand. Kept my pool beautiful but it wasn’t as good with pollen. Your answer totally makes sense!

Fake tan is heinous

IF DONE RIGHT. @Newdude can keep his spray tan schedule and I’ll get my tan by floating in the poo
I work outside so no matter the time of year, my body parts you can see have some pigment. My legs are glow in the dark right now having not switched back to shorts yet, but they're covered and nobody knows.

Fake tan is heinous

Cuz every body knows fat looks better tan 🤣🤣
That was literally the line of a local tanning salon commercial here
This I will admit!! A tan makes most people look thinner and more flattering — IF DONE RIGHT. @Newdude can keep his spray tan schedule and I’ll get my tan by floating in the pool, minding my business. 😜🤪

Electric Heater without cover

Temperature = 84 + (65-84)e^(-0.0441Time).

X = Time in Hours.
Y = Temperature.

Y = 84 + (65-84)e^(-0.0441X).

X = -22.6757 ln((Y - 84)/-19)

You can use this formula to calculate the time to reach a temperature or the temperature at a specific time.

For example, to get to 82 degrees will take about 51 hours.

To get to 83.5224 degrees, it will take 83.5224 hours.

To get to 83.9885 degrees will take 1 week (168 hours).

so the pool is NOT officially “open”
Oh, I most certainly disagree. It's officially open.

But not running.

Opening was better than I thought it would be
I'd take like the above pics any year. :salut:

Gotta love TFP !! You're pulling the cover after months off and looking better than the other people do on their good days.

Fake tan is heinous

Spray tans are a complete mystery to me. Why are they even a thing?
Because in my teenage dirtbag years (middle and high school), tanning beds were all the rage. Obviously, strong UV rays are bad for you (shocking, right), so many people do spray tans instead. I’m half Greek and have a natural base tan, so I just stay a lil “pasty” in the winter and get tan by floating and swimming in the pool (with SPF!!) in the summer. I had a spray tan ONCE, and looked like RFK Jr. 😩😩😫😭😭😭

It was TERRIBLE and there was nothing I could do to get it off without it looking splotchy. I’ll skip the spray tanning and self tanner and stick to the sun (with spf….especially face) and a lil Botox here n there to keep me still looking like a 25 yr old float queen — 12 years later. ☺️
