Not getting power to Mastertemp400

The Transformer is connected to pins 4 and 3.

Pin 3 is connected to pin 2.

Pin 2 goes to the Fireman's Switch Loop and returns on pin 1.

Test for voltage from Pin 1 to Pin 4. You should get 24 VAC if the Fireman's Loop is closed.

When you get 24 VAC from Pin 1 to Pin 4, the Heater should Boot-Up.

Normal boot-up is 888, 128, and then rX, where X is the software revision number.

Test for voltage from Pin 3 to 2, Pin 3 to Pin 1 and from Pin 2 to 1.

If Pin 3 is connected to Pin 2, you should get 0 volts from Pin 3 to Pin 2.

If the Fireman's Loop is closed, you should get 0 volts from Pin 3 to Pin1 and from Pin 2 to Pin 1.

Topping off with salt,SWG off or on?

I’m going to add to add a 40lb bag to bring my salt level back up.

Depends how and where you are adding it to your pool.

Since I am not adding multiple bags and not starting with freshwater, is it necessary to turn off the SWG when adding?

It is best practice to turn off the SWG before adding salt.

Many folks get away with adding salt with the SWG running.

Do you feel lucky today?

What happens if the SWG is running while salt is added?

Maybe nothing. Maybe a high salinity slug of water goes through the cell which causes the amps to spike and damage components.

Some SWG systems electronics are more sensitive and easily damaged then others.

Looking for a spa vacuum

Have a pool & connected 'infinity' style spa. The pool cleaner (polaris 280) cleans the pool great, but I am looking for something that can vacuum the spa. The 'infinity' spa spills over into a 6-inch wide trench that rounds around it, that feeds into the pool. I'd like the vacuum head to be small enough to clean that trench as well since it collects debris and whatnot that falls/blows in. Throwing the 280 into the spa doesn't work as it just crawls out. I am looking for some sort of hand vacuum that can ideally connect to the boost pump connection that the 280 uses. I would really like to avoid an electric pool vacuum as I have read that those often fail after a short time. I haven't been able to find any sort of boost pump hand vacuum anywhere so am wondering if that sort of thing exists in the first place. I know that turning it on and off would be tricky while you are holding it but just really don't want to buy an electric one that can fry after a few months because water got in.

Thank you in advance!

Difficulty measuring pH

I assume he did use the dpd version for the Cl. I agree that the Tftestkit comparator doesn't look right as far as its colors in the picture.

But, @TinFoilHat has an extremely valid point - pH readings are invalid when Cl is over 10. At least with the TFP test kit. No idea about what the pool store uses for chlorine neutralizer, or what effect using it may have on the pH reading.

Skimmer Diverter Type needed for older pool

Thanks Jim!
Looking to drain the pool to prepare for acid washing. Here in Las Vegas it’s required to return the water to the city. The pool is setup with DE filter and one outlet of the multiport is plumbed to the sewer.
Trying to alleviate the need to rent a trash pump with a long hose to the sewer located in the front of the house.
Thank you,
Don

Hayward Omnilogic Temperature Not Changing

I have an omnilogic system and my water (and air) temp seems like it is always reading 78degs. I thought maybe the water sensor was bad, so I just swapped it out but the system still just reads 78degs. I had not noticed the air sensor was also reading 78degs till just now. Has anyone seen an error like this before? My assumption at this point is something is wrong with the board for the unit somehow and its not getting a good reading. Any advice?

New Hot Tub Owner - Taylor Test Kit

OK - new test this morning after adding 16 g of DiChlor last night.
FC: 9.5 ppm
CC: .5ppm
CYA: tested outside, back to the sun and at waist level, TT filled to the top (30), I could still just see the black dot when glancing at the TT. I'm guessing it would have disappeared at 25 if the TT went that high. It did not quite look like the 'end test' photo in the guide.
