Quick comment on PoolMath update

This week the app stores enabled Automatic Updates for PoolMath rolling out the update to all users. This is the same version that was released last month to users whom manually updated from the App Store, it’s just now being automatically updated users devices following the expiration of the 30 day “pause” that was put on before. I’d like to take a few seconds to update all on a few items we may see shortly plus a peak into the future.

As we move into the new framework of PoolMath we’ve noticed an uptick of users whom have “lost their data” when opening the App. We’re looking for the cause of this however users can restore their data in a few ways. Most of the time a simple logout/log back in helps sync the data once again however in extreme instances deleting the App and reinstalling takes care of the issue. We’re looking into this more however to get the user up and running asap logging out will address the issue most the time.

Next is the hiccup that’s been around for years, the issue of subscriptions not updating as expected. In this update we attempted again to improve this however it’s clear things still aren’t 100% perfect. We’ve kinda hit a point where we’re looking into hiring some outside assistance to improve this as we too are tired of letting the end user down.

In the meantime simply clicking the “Restore Subscription” will check the App stores and update your subscription. Clicking Restore will not double charge you so there’s no need to worry about that. If this fails please feel free to email us at [email protected] and we’ll be glad to assist further.

Lastly, we have some exciting progress to share. As we move forward with this update, we're thrilled to announce the upcoming Beta launch of a web version of PoolMath.

In the near future, we plan to make this new platform available for users to explore on their computers. However, we're not launching it just yet as we address a few finial issues. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this development phase.
Any update on pool math coming to computers/laptops?

VS pump and can’t get the schedule right…

Oh my gosh…I’m embarrassed to say this here…didn’t even think about algae in the filter! Ooooofff.

Ok, off to do the OCLT. Haven’t done one of those in a long time🤪We did forget to add algaecide in at closing last fall and opened to some this spring. But I brushed and vac’d and added LC and it looked good. Didn’t give it much thought after that. But with the SWCG not running until recently (due to temps) and me not adding CYA and likely not adding enough LC because it ‘looked’ good…yeah. It’s me. I’m the problem!

Thanks all - will keep everyone posted!!

iAqualink 3.0 dead....or it seems to be dead

Short history, bought my house in July 2020, installed iAqualink 2.0 at that time. I was always having connection issues and calling Fluidra to get back online. In November 2021 they finally decided to send me a iAqualink 3.0 if I paid a professional company to install, so I did.

Late around February 2025, I started having connection issues again, and Fluidra blamed my internet connection, which was not the issue, and I never could get it to connect. So just let it ride with the settings I had already set. Decided to figure it out yesterday and this iAqualink 3.0 is dead...no lihgts of any kind, can't reset it....I mean DEAD. Are these things just this much junk? I mean, for 500 to 600 dollars, I figured they should last 10 to 12 years easily.

I get it, electronics die, but wow, for that much I can't stomach replacing every 2 to 3 years. I have called them back, but I am sure they will not help this time. Is there another wireless alternative to the iAqualink?

There is also a procedure for your HP to adjust Delta T to ensure proper flow...Did the builder do that? What RPM did they say would give you 30GPM.
But you may not have the ports...did they install them? Temperature Port Kit (# STK0096)
See Page 13.
All good questions. This is the first I am hearing about this so idk. I can ask him.

Multi Port Valve Issue

Hi!

New to owning a pool. After opening the pool I was not getting good pressure out of 2/3 jets. It looked like the spider gasket needed to be replaced, and seemed easy enough. But now my pool is not operating correctly. The pump fills with water for a few seconds and I get good pressure out of the jets, but then it stops and water empties out of the pump. Also - when screwing the lid back on, it struggles to fully close without me applying pressure to the top. The handle is also popping up when fully closed.

Any help would be great. Sorry if I did not do a good job explaining.

Pentair VSP help

Take a baking soda paste, and a wet rag and clean the mating surface on the top of the pump basket.
Make sure you flush any baking soda thoroughly. We don't want to leave any on the mating surface. It is just to clean up the surface to seal better.
Take the o-ring out and inspect. If there are cracks, replace. Lubricate with silicone lubricant (like magic lube II).
Clean the clear lid where the o-ring goes, replace the o-ring.
Remove the drain plugs from the pump. Clean, inspect (and replace if necessary), lube and replace the plugs.
VERY IMPORTANT: After you do this get a 5 gallon pail with about 3 gallons and pour it into the pump basket.
Replace the lid and start the pump. If it doesn't prime in 5 minutes, stop the pump, you have another problem.
Start there.

Pool Heater Suggestion in North Texas

I have a Hayward gas heater that you can have. :) Seriously, I doubt it works any longer, as it’s 18 years old. We just don’t have the need for a heater. We have a raised spa which we used a few times a year for the first couple of years after we built the pool, but just don’t bother any longer. Yes, our grandkids would love to get in the pool now, but it will warm up on its own within a couple of weeks. Gotta teach them some patience.

My issue is just the opposite. Had to install a chiller to keep the water cool during the summer.

Edit: If you move forward with a heater and also struggle with a 90°+ pool in the summer, be sure to look into heat pump/chiller combo units.

Using Pool Spa Year Round

For using the spa year round, from what I was told is that the pool and spa manually should be manually divided. That way If valve fails water won't go back in the pool lines and risk freezing from spa water.

Not totally clear what is meant to be manually divided and if my current system qualifies or needs adjustments.

As for Spa covers, I saw someone in another forum recommended BeyondNice.com. I'll check them out - anyone have others? Any idea on turnaround time for those?

Thank you!

No, I don't think I would ever plan to use the heat pump at night. I know you looked up my equipment and told me that my heat pump requires 2200rpm so that is why we chose that number to run at 24/7.
Are you going to heat at night? Don't run low speed with heater on.
$60/month 2200, $20/month 1400
I am going to go out on a huge limb and say to save about $2 a month or $8-10 a season is not worth having the pump scheduled to drop lower at night and risk not having it at the right RPMs for the heater in case it get turned on when the RPMs are low.
