What causes this?

Also, for what it’s worth, there are no more bubbles coming from the intake (at this time).
Yeah, I’m thinking maybe they have been discontinued or something. The other reason I like it is it protects the sharp edge of the pole from damaging liner if it goes in pool without a tool attached.OOS...$20-30 elsewhere.
You only had to wait 30 days after plaster to add salt.
I like the ladder handle covers, where did you get them?I have some fairly significant fading - the pool is in direct sun pretty much all day - although we do use a solar cover. I find the worst fading tends to be in the high-traffic areas, the deep end is less affected (you can see in the bottom of the picture the color difference) and I can see where the previous owners used to 'hang' on the side of the pool at the deep end near the tiki bar, probably chatting with guests etc - there is a patch right there that is more faded than anywhere else, and I originally thought it was a chemical spill...but now the traffic theory seems to fit better. I too did the step-move-color shuffle - so hard to believe its the water itself.
I have no idea how old the liner in the pool is - we're guessing somewhere around 6-8 years, no idea on make or quality, but based on other 'fixes' the previous owner did, it's probably the cheapest one they could find at the time. At some point, we're just happy it holds water, and I kinda figure there isn't much I can do about it. It doesn't really affect us using the pool, so I try not to obsess about it

p.s. I secretly obsess about it![]()
This is your pump basket.I’m sorry for being so confused. The pump basket is the first pic I sent, right?
Yes, that is what a pump does...it pump water from skimmer or main drain through filter and other equipment back to the returns in the pool.I’ve never seen water in there before tonight which I thought was an issue from a toy being pulled into the skimmer. So there is supposed to be water in there from the pool?

So there is supposed to be water in there from the pool?Priming a pump is the process of pulling water up from the pool to the pump. Once it is primed, it is moving mostly water.
Losing prime means the pump is no longer pumping water and the pump basket has essentially no water. If it continues to move water, even with some air in the pump basket, over a long interval (like 24 hours), you have not lost prime.
OOS...$20-30 elsewhere.Best thing I ever bought from the pool store that shall not be named- currently $1
Can you tell me what it means to lose its prime?Yes, but it depends on the RPMs the pump is running. Getting the speeds will help diagnosis.
Does the pump lose prime? If pump does not lose prime, then it is not urgent.
Yes, but it depends on the RPMs the pump is running. Getting the speeds will help diagnosis.Since it’s only happening on and off, might it be “normal” as the link suggests for a variable pump?
Does the pump lose prime? If pump does not lose prime, then it is not urgent. If not, can it be an indication of a huge problem or more just something that needs explored when able? I’ll call a pool tech on Monday but just making sure it’s not urgent.
Okay, I will try those things tomorrow. It means that you can vary the RPMs of the pump and is programmable to run different speeds during the day.
Go to the pump, while it is running. You will see one light above 1, 2 or 3. It means it is currently running that program. Remember that number (1,2, or 3) (I'll call it CURRENT).
Press "Stop" wait 5 seconds, then press "start" press the display button until it shows you the RPM. Write that number down.
Press 1, press display until it shows RPMs, write that number down.
Press 2 and 3 and write RPMs down for those programs.
Press the button next to CURRENT, and pump will return to its programming.
Post RPMS for Prime ("start"), 1, 2 and 3.
The section on VSPs applies to you in the article/troubleshooting.
Are exactly are those lights controlled? From that box? How?Put a pool light junction box on the light conduit as is. Do not cut it down as you want it to be above any possible pool water level.
Then run conduit from the junction box to light switch and power.
Code allows only four 90's in conduit to pool light, and you don't know how many are there.
Are lights low voltage or 120V?
