New Build in NE FL

Oh happy day! Those ARE very pretty! I can't wait to see them outside in the sun!

I hear you on the weather. We got blasted last night! Quite scary at times!

Nice they are adding the extra for make up for the size difference now if only they will do the right thing on the shipping!

So as expected, he said his boss would not ok $600 expedited shipping. I sent a reply saying I understand due to the cost but given that this is well beyond just a delay as we had to change our order due to their inability to get the product and also not properly communicate what was going on and offer other options ahead of time to prevent our entire build from being on hold that a discount beyond $80 in free tile is warranted. I then reminded him that the company states clearly on their website that they want their customers experience to be enjoyable, satisfying, informative, and fun and that they pride themselves on personalize service and building excellent business relationships and that given what has happened, this has not been our experience. I then added that I hoped he and his boss have some empathy for what our experience has been like and that an adjustment would show good faith and appreciation of their customers. I highly doubt anything will come from this but as an internet based company, online reviews speak volumes and I would highly encourage others to do google reviews so that when people search they come up bc when I searched online, I only found positive reviews.

With that said, I received my shipping email with tracking number 5 mins after my email was sent.

In other news, my metal bowls arrived that I am using as forms to make my own concrete fire bowls. I refuse to pay $600 plus each for a fire bowl when I can make a bowl for less than $120 for two of them and have the gas burners purchased and put together for less than $260 for both. Photos of all that will come eventually as I start to make them.

What a shocker. I received an email from the boss telling me basically that I should be extremely happy that I am receiving a "special order premium tile" at the same cost as the regular bc apparently the 1.5 is special order. Whooptie doo buddy. End of the day, I am not getting what I ordered. Then he says it is rare to have broken tiles yet I have read 2 or 3 people on here I believe that had that issue. I will send them a reply email once I have my tiles. I will also make sure to leave a thorough review everywhere that I can. It is a shame that such an amazing product is handled so poorly. However, I have the feeling if our invoice was $10k or more, things would go a lot differently. At the end of the day, $2500 is chump change to them and who cares about a one time customer for a pool. This manager missed an opportunity to look like a good guy and spin the situation into a positive light but he fails by telling me I need to be thankful for what they did give me and get over all the other issues and not once addresses or apologizes for their miserable communication skills. I was honestly very hopeful that this experience wasn't going to be like the others I had read about because up until these last 2.5 weeks, all of my questions, concerns, etc have been addressed and taken care of. Struck out with the bases loaded unfortunately.

So when does the email say your pretty tiles will be there?

BOO-HISS on the boss saying you should be happy/glad/whatever about getting those tiles! SO I should be GLAD I had this extra stress, lost pool build time because YOU made huge mistake???? yea NOPE!

Lets talk about those fire bowls---------I want step by step pics and words! Will you use glass fire rocks???

We will pull up the delivery date tomorrow. The label was made but not updated when it was emailed to us. Likely Fri or next Monday I would guess.

I did a lot of pottery and also in high school we made reef balls which are artificial reefs for off shore in the ocean and we used large forms and concrete and I know aboht getting the air bubbles outs etc. And then also when I was working on the dental field, I poured models, made, permanent crowns, etc so very hands on when it comes to making stuff.

This website below has the best ideas for securing the forms together to get uniform thickness and also like that he shows how the bowls look using different products. So we are going to Home Depot this week to get the sleeves and bolt for the drainage hole and also securing the bowls together and I am going to try the countertop mix and then just a mortar mix that has sand already added and I may add a flow kit to it to make it more viscous. I also think a great way to get out air bubbles is to hold a sander up to the side of the bowls as the vibration causes the air to go to the surface. This is how we get perfect stone models in the dental lab but it's just a little vibrating pad not a sander. Heck if it is pretty easy, I may make extra and sell them bc companies are super proud of theirs and want like $300! $100 + shipping and we are sold lol Will keep this up to date as I make them.

That is one brave cat! Mine would be running for under the beds!

You are making great progress!!

Where you able to take the tile sample outside and look at it in the sun???????

I read that link to making the bowls. That is SO neat! Thanks for sharing it!

Patches is like a dog. She follows me wherever I go, comes when called, immediately checks out all new people and things, and is not afraid of much anything. Lol

Yes, actually more bling than the 2x2 and it works well but doesn't negate the horrible communication from LS. It is just beautiful tile and if we were rich, I would do the bathrooms and kitchen with the stuff! Lol if I could ever get my order! Lol though I sure larger budgets get preferred treatment. But it is stunning so I think we ended up with a good trade.

Here is the tile and footer. We also received a bit of rain... Lol bottom step is almost under water. Ready to see some progress.

So the tile arrived yesterday. I have been going through each sheet, one by one, inspecting all of the individual pieces. I am a little frustrated as the non taped side has scratches and like a pitting on the surface of the polished ones like they weren't polished. My only thought is this side that is visible is the part that will be in the thin set. Hopefully they have been on the tape and that side isn't scratched. I have found a few chipped corners or edges but majority are where they will be in the thin set. I will be sending the photos of the scratches, pitting, and chips to Lightstream though I doubt anything will come from it. I am just telling myself you have to be right up on the tile to notice anything and in the big picture it probably won't be noticeable. Ultimately I do think we ended up with a better tile as it is stunning.

Tile guys are here waterproofing and prepping the pool. I showed them how the ceramic tiles have areas that have blue sides and some have a teal side and I wanted them to set the blue edges against the glass tile when it is accented in the waterline. They said they had no problems doing that for me. PB said he brought his best tile guy that has trained everyone else so don't worry.

Can't wait to get the ball rolling and get the project back on track!

Waterproofing going on

Thanks ladies!

So happy to look out and see the pool drained. The toads had a party pond for too long! We have a pond not far away that they need to relocate to. The water was so nasty ugh. So last of the water is draining and the gross leaves are in a pile in there. Guessing they will be back to mortar the top edge to level everything out tomorrow.

Also all of our fence is almost completed. Today has been busy with tile, PB, and fence guys all here.

This is great! I've been holding my breath for you hoping the tiles arrived safely. They are exquisite!!!! Whenever I see a different color of LS glass, I think, "Oh, I should have used that color!" Then I look at my pool and love it, too. The pictures above - are they the ones you're sending to LS? If not, I'd like to see those pictures - maybe that would jog my memory about how my tile looked when it came. I'm afraid I was too giddy to notice anything - my eyes were totally dazzled by the bling!
