Talk to your pool builder and see what they can do for you. Mine laid out lots of OSB as @PoolStored mentioned. Some areas of the patio still got scuffed up as that is unavoidable when a 2-ton excavator rolls in but it would have been far far worse without the plywood.
Some excavators provide wood planks to drive on top of for the first trip to the pool site then dump dirt over the access trail back to the dump trucks to travel over during the rest of the excavation. At the end of excavation the dirt is removed by crews with shovels.
