Draining pool

How are you testing your pool water?
Turned it off. Still saying too big. Oh well. Just add it to my frustrations!
Pool store testing. And test strips. I’m new here so I know I have to get a test kit. This pool is a money sucking nightmare. So which test kit?

Could be algae. Only way to know for sure is to do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test.
Since you know a test kit is needed - here's a link.... Test Kits Compared

With a SWG, the TF-Pro Salt would work well.
Get one ordered today and it will ship tomorrow. You will probably have it by Monday or Tuesday.

Pool almost drained. What’s the brown stuff? My husband plans to just refill. Im
Afraid the walls might be an issue??

So can i use a liquid "instant conditioner" instead of the granulated chlorine stabilizer?
I don't know why you are draining. From the look of the water, you don't need to drain.

The brown, or the walls being an issue because you are draining.

You do not want your plaster to dry out while you are draining, they should be kept wet. I would get water on the walls (its hot here today)...and get it filled quickly.

Order the test kit. Add 3ppm of liquid chlorine a day until your kit arrives.

When kit arrives, follow the SLAM process to clear the pool...Link-->SLAM Process

We'll get to the staining after we get the water right.

The only pool store test result I kinda believe is the metals test.
It shows copper of 0.8

You will need to determine where the copper came from.
Are you on a well?
Do you have a heater?
Have you been using copper based algacide?
Have you been using any chemicals with the word blu or blue.

You seem ready to get one of the recommended test kits and embrace the TFP method of pool care.
Can you get your husband onboard as well?

Fill out your signature with pool, all pool equipment (including manufacturers and model numbers) and test kit info.
This assists us in providing you help without needing to ask you each time for this important information.

We can certainly help you. Are you ready to turn your 'nightmare-for-me' into a trouble free pool?

No well. No heater. Did put algaecide in weeks ago. No idea if copper in it as ingredients listed as “other”. No chemicals w blue or blu. Honestly just shock shock and more shock. Obv wasn’t following slam formally but was putting a ridiculous amount of chlorine in w no change.

Ordered test kit. Hub will do whatever. He’s color blind so testing isn’t his strength. I gilled it all out already didn’t I?! I’ll look again. Thanks

*I filled the info for profile already but I’ll make sure again.

Pool is near drained. Walks are stained. Are they ok to refill? Just ugly? Or are they a real problem?

Refill the pool...read the stain guide and deal with it when pool is filled.

Sorry, I forgot to put the link in to fill out your signature.

Profile (account details) is on the left side under your user name.
Signature shows under your posts. If on a mobile device, use landscape mode to see signatures.
Signature shows much more detail about your pool. See mine and others for ideas on what to include.

We just refilled. It finished yesterday. Pool is green already. And getting cloudy. My test kit arrived. What info is needed to help me?
This morning chlorine was 10 & ph 7.6. CYA was low so I added stabilizer. Salt was added 2 days ago to sit for 24 hours before putting SWG on. What other tests do I need?
