And another DFW pool

Looking good! I'm still waiting for the freaking HOA approval.
That took about a week for us, and then another week for city approval.
You are in the frustrating period but they will be moving dirt soon. Good luck.

Saw the gunite update today on FB for yours..they're flying now! It was interesting that where the steps are the rebar is just sloped and doesn't go into the actual steps. So the steps are just formed out of the gunite?

Yep, they are shooting the spa now and I'm guessing they will move to the steps next. I'm trying to get good pictures, but they have the protective tarps up blocking my view.

Nice! Have you picked out all the finishes yet?
Haha, thats a sore subject right now. I thought last night we were all set, but "we" are having second thoughts on the tile choice as its hard to choose that from a sample.

Right now we are doing:
Wall - Philadelphia split face
Coping - White Walnut travertine
Tile - My favorite is Noble Coringa Islet, but my better half is not convinced

Once we are done with the samples, I'm sure they are headed your way.

LOL.. oh yes...that is going to be fun. It really is hard to pick from just looking at a single tile, imagining what it will look like all around the pool. Are you doing the same tile for the spa/pool transition area as the water line? I'm thinking that I will want that to be different on ours. Have you already decided on the pebble sheen color? Honestly, I'm thinking that will be the hardest decision.

I’ve had my pool since April 2018. Open full year in HOUSTON. I’ve NEVER “shocked”/Slammed my pool. There is no need to if you follow this sites advice and utilize the FC/CYA relationship.
The SWG is worth every single penny. I’m out of town now. My SWG is set at 50%. I can pretty much guarantee when I get back home tomorrow my FC will be 6 +/- .5. Why anybody would want to add liquid chlorine EVERY day is beyond me.

I was thinking the same thing about the tile, 1 main color and then an upgraded glass tile on the spa dam wall. We went last night to see one of his pools that is a few weeks ahead of us and liked that they had a single tile through the full pool, especially where the dam wall meets the pool tile (less to try and coordinate).

They can and do form shelves, benches, steps out of the gunite. Now if they shot it THEN you want to change it they will have to drill in the step or whatever and add some rebar to give it some connection to the other stuff.

Woohoo, after some rain delays this morning, gunite is done.

Now if we can land on the tile, we should be able to start tile and stone this week.

So pretty!!! Does it look as good in person! How did they handle the top of the corner? That can be a tricky place for some!

I think it looks good. It has a little bit of color/texture, but not a focal point, which is what we are going for. I gave the shell a good watering a second ago and didnt notice anything in the top corners, but will definitely check that out in my mid day pool watering.

Stone day 1 complete. Looks like they finished the cinder blocks for the wall, and set out the travertine coping. We are wondering if we should have gone higher on the raised part of the wall.

PS - It was 104 degrees. I cant imagine working in a concrete shell all day in that heat.

Day 2 of stone is done. Looks much better today.

For anyone reading this who is building, our wall steps from 12" up to 18". While we are happy with it, I think we should have done 12" to 24" instead.
