Is this a good price ..

Also Dunrite says they do steel with concrete
I'm not sure what they mean by "steel with concrete." All steel wall pool builders are required to have a concrete collar by code, but that's not the same as concrete walls. Big concrete wall pool builders on long island are south shore pools, jj pools, & swim king .

Dokata told me this.

"We can get you a standard tristar, they make a large tristar but you would need to change all of the plumbing lines from 1 1/2 inch to 2 inch. I apologize for any confusion, the filter model number I sent you is for a Hayward swimclear 4030 filter. "

Don't overthink the larger pump. As long as its a VS, with that size pool, you are fine. I still suggest you get modern comfort out there for an estimate. They break everything down. Myself, and my sister had a wonderful experience with them.

Another quote. Thoughts? Not Hayward.
Tru Blue is decent builder, they’ve done work for several people I know. Just keep in mind that gas and electric hookups will cost extra, typically ranging from $7,000 to $10,000, depending on the distance from the electrical panel and gas meter to the equipment. Jandy is good equipment unfortunely i have no experience with it as I have all hayward equipment.

Hello All. I'm posting everything together to make it easier. I really want to pull the trigger within the next week so I'm hoping I can get some feedback from more people. I'm attaching all the quotes together. Thank you very much for any feedback.

All quotes include stadium stairs, bench and 8' deep.

One of the companies told me this ...not sure how accurate.
2” PVC plumbing is not necessary on a pool of your size. The filter manifold , valves and fittings would all have to changed as well. If you want to increase it all , the pump size to 2 HP and the pipe to 2”…. there will be an up charge of $1150.

Just got this back from one of the pool builders in which I haven't posted. Any thoughts on the equipment he's listing?

Hayward Swim clear Cartridge filter C-3030

Max Flo VS500SP23520VSP Hayward Pump

Gas Heater H250FDPASME LO NOX HAYWARD HEATER

AQUA CAL CPB0001A CHLOR SYNC GEN 2PLUS PPM1 MANIFOLD salt sys

Wall system is the patented Latham composite saltwater pool with deck supports, switched to these as the steel walls are now rusting out over time with the salt systems ,stopped using the 10inch concrete walls as they have no footings or deck supports and they do get cracks.

The pool bottom is a Portland cement and sand hard bottom to eliminate footprints from just plain sand the liner lays on this.

Those are the walls my previous builder used.

You have lots of bids, with widely varying sizes, types, makes and models.

If you are going with Hayward….
Insist on a C-4030 or larger filter
Insist on a triton vs900 or 950 pump
Get the largest gas heater you can afford. I’d get a 400K BTU

On the chlor sync, or any other SWG, make sure to get a 40K cell or larger.

You spelled 'invented BS reasons because one particular way was more profitable' wrong.

That your PB is going with Latham composite for any reason besides it is more profitable.

Make no mistake. If concrete or steel was twice as profitable, they'd have 12 reasons why you didn't want composite.

Interesting. thoughts?
The composite works just fine, we were on year 11 when we left, and had no issues. I will say, steel works too, but DEFINATELY will eventually corrode, but you will probably outlive it. The comment about the concrete walls is BS. No footings are necessary, there's not much load on it, its below the frost line also. And cracking?? Well there is much rebar in it, I wouldn't expect cracking, if anything if I had to rate walls for a pool. Concrete, then composite, then steel. They all work and have been proven. I would try to stay away from steel, but if you are saving thousands because of it, I wouldn't shy away from it. I feel like you are all over the place with estimates. Pick out exactly what equipment you want, exactly what pool shape you want, and then get estimates. You cant just keep getting random estimates. You really cant compare different estimates.

I agree and it's hard to keep track of. From above ground to semi to 3 different kinds of inground, we keep getting asked about a random quote that is apples to oranges to pineapple to squash.

We need a solid gameplan, then 3 quotes for said solid gameplan. Only then do we compare apples to apples and know one is better.
