IceShadow’s pool thread 2022

Ok so here is the before of the air in pump basket when running on 1200 rpm all night.

Hard to see, but it was down at the top of the inlet.

I lubed up the o-rings again on the two unions before the pump (the 2” I put in and the union into the pump) as well as both pump plugs and the lid o-ring. Now it still has a bubble but a much smaller one.

Going to be gone 11-12 days for a vacation in July. Plan is to raise to SLAM level, put the pool cover on, and hope for the best. The pool cover really reduces chlorine usage and I’m thinking it might be better than just some floaters and tabs. And I’m thinking floater with tabs under pool cover is a bad idea due to locally high FC and low pH levels.

Probably gonna reduce phosphates before I go too, as some added insurance.

Tested the pool water and I’m pretty happy with the pH. 7.4 and hasn’t climbed all year, no acid additions. My pool likes 60 TA. Not much aeration, mind.

My CYA was low, below 30. Time to add another 10ppm.

What about pool noodles, 9 ft away from the robot ? The robot will be able to move freely and the cord stays out of the pool.
Cord is floating. It just winds over itself instead of the swivel working.

Maybe I need to check out that swivel…

Ok, twisted the swivel back and forth a ton. Maybe it helped. Not so much of a tangle in it now.

Also added DE to the skimmer for helping filter again. Had to put like 6-8 cups in before it registered a 1ppm increase. I guess maybe my filter is oversized for my pool?

Also they’re working on our gas lines in anticipation of the road being resurfaced. I asked for a bigger gas service and hopefully that will help with my heater running efficiently when other gas appliances in the house are in use.

They also confirmed my downspouts are going to the storm sewer, which is great. Now I really want to redirect my waste line to the downspouts. Thinking about the best way to do that. Could go left or right of the equipment pad…

Because if it opened it needed clearance to do so when you ran your waste pipe across the front of it like this :

I think I like that anyway. At the end I’d run a 45 up toward the wall to lift the pipe a bit against it, 90 against the wall, then a 45 down into the downspout to avoid the water going in at a straight 90 and hitting the back wall of the downspout.
