Sand level on Triton ii 60

Hayward Control Board Doesn't See Generator

My Hayward goldline controls installed in 2007 recently started giving zero salt reading and shut down chlorine generator. Physical test shows 3000 ppm salt. voltage in diagnostics display shows "0" on one side. I replaced the cell thinking that was issue but no change. Installed new "GLX-PCB-Main" board. Diagnostic menu doesn't toggle any chlorinator data. Its as though it doesn't see any cell attached to system. When I scroll thru diagnostic menu it displays "Main Software 2.93". My original board that did recognize the cell displayed "Main Software 2.66". Does anyone know if this is why I don't see cell? Can I get a replacement board with 2.66 software?

OMG after clicking through some of the links you provided (specifically this one: Investigation: Clorox Selling Pool Salt Made From Fracking Wastewater) in your previous comment I might be sick, as I recently added 240lbs of Clorox salt to the pool. I noticed yellow stains, but I'm not as concerned about the stains as I am some of the other things. Wondering if I should be draining and diluting now as I may have RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL in the pool my kids swim in. UGH. I'm thoroughly disgusted. Off to research more on this.
Your pool is safe to swim in. The salt does not cause any health hazards.

Its bad effects are all cosmetic.

Can I change sand before opening the pool for the season?

But how do I accomplish this when we haven’t opened yet and pump isn’t primed?
You don't.

The way I see it, every new build in the land has their filter put together and filled before the pump is running, so you'll be no different. Fix the filter and backwash/rinse when its possible to do so.

And Welcome to TFP !!!

Pentair easy touch issues

Hello,

I came back from a weekend trip and noticed that the pool wasn’t running. Everything in the system is pentair, pentair easy touch, pentair Ic40 and a pentair variable pump. A few issues I’m running into after seeing what was going on. The remote is showing NO COMM, I can’t get it to communicate, I’ve tried to search the address but it finds nothing. Also the chlorinator has no power, and the pump is just not turning on with the easy touch panel. I can manually turn the pump on but the chlorinator does nothing. I’ve googled everything I could think of and tried all the suggestions I could find like resetting the systems turning off the breakers and nothing changes. Does anyone have any insight, not sure what else to outside of calling a local pool company to check it out. I’ve never had any issues for the past 4 years.

Do not use Clorox pool salt at any price. It is usually the cheap one for a reason.

Sand level on Triton ii 60

I just performed a deep clean on my Triton ii 60 and the sand bed was a few inches below the intake port. I believe that is too low--only half way, and I should add some more. Anyone familiar with this filter to know where 325lbs hits? The intake port is right before the bend back in, so I'm curious if that should be at least partially in the sand? I can't find a spec sheet to say exactly how far from the top. Thanks.

Salt level

Same battle I’ve had but with Hayward. It’s always been about 400 higher on the cell compared to the Taylor test. I have always followed the Taylor and have always been fine as far as chlorine production. This year it was a little more of a difference but I’m still following Taylor test and I’ve had lower but still in range levels. FC has been fine and water has been clear so far. The machine is good for a quick look but I would still follow Taylor test as your true salt level.

Maytrinics power supply question

Does anyone know where we can purchase just the circuit board for the power supply. Ours is 3 yrs old and the power supply just stopped working. Like 3 weeks out of warranty. Go figure. But my husband checked it with the meter and brought it in the house a plugged it to make sure and nothing. No power at all. And I have searched to try and find a replacement board with no luck. Or is there is a third party board that will work I will take that too. Thanks.

Calcium deposits?

I found this article and this appears to be happening to our pool. We live in South LA but did have a temperature of 9* this winter. It did stay below freezing for about 48-72 hours.

The Borate Pool Opening in Aqua Magazine discusses how borates can limit pH rise while a pool is closed for the winter. High pH while a pool is closed can cause scaling. Those that find their pools with very high pH at Spring opening may benefit from borates, with the pool open or closed

Jandy Nicheless LED light replacements

Then that is your list for Aqualink compatibility.

Those who got burnt by Pentair LED lights are looking to try Jandy Watercolors.

They all stink and none have demonstrated long term reliability. Partly since none have been out for that long.
