IntellifloXF VSF pump display is off during service mode

Metal,

In your original post you said you could not turn on the bubbler from the app..

Wiring your pump to the wrong side of the Aux relay should not cause that issue, but I agree with JamesW..

The first thing you need to do is find the Aux1 relay that controls the bubbler pump.. Your pump appears to be wired to the Load side of the relay (Pins 2 and 4) You need to move the wires from the load side, over to the Line side (Pins 1 and 3).. This will provide constant AC power to the pump.. The pump will still be controlled by the RS-485 cable..

The reason you get the Alarm is because you are basically taking the power away from the pump when you turn off Aux1.. This is also why you have no display when Aux1 is off..

Let's see if that solves your issue or if you still can't control the pump from your app.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Can’t remove O ring from AG pool filter housing cover

My filter is returning air bubbles. I m proceeding by elimination.
I watched videos and they mention to check the AG pool filter pump housing cover O ring.
After removing the cover, The O ring does not budge. I Had someone else look at it and they say the same.
I would destroy it for sure if I try to get it out.
I m also afraid to crack the clear plastic cIMG_6181.jpegIMG_6182.jpegover if I try.
From what I can see, it looks fine but it is like 4 years old (Filter in garage in the winter).
The funny thing is that everyone is having issues removing the cover but not the O ring, me the opposite 😆

Any ideas?

Thanks

Union Nut Replacement?

I'm curious about when I unscrew the cracked one, will the PVC pipe going from the filter to the diverter valve come out so I can replace the nut or is it typically permanently connected with pvc cement?
The latter...it's cemented and the only way to install the new nut is to cut the pipe so you install the new nut or use a split nut like the one linked by @JamesW. You'll need to find the correct one for your filter as the thread are usually proprietary. If you can't find the correct fitting, you'll need to do some repair work...

You don't have enough room to fit a coupler between the valve and filter union. You can use a Magic Mend repair fitting that slips inside of your existing PVC pipe. Cut the PVC pipe, remove old nut, install new nut, then slip the fitting below into each pipe. You'll need primer and PVC cement...

Filter grid gets dirty again in minutes

The pool looks clean. The backwash looks clean. The chemicals look reasonably good (See below). Salt is lower than usual but still OK. The filter PSI is just above my upper range. (32psi) I open the filter and the off-white grids have become a beige, darker than I have ever seen in 10 years. It is a consistent beige, not spotty. I clean the filter as per usual and it easily cleans up. The PSI drops to 20 (my lower range), but in 15 minutes, it is 22, and in 2 hours it is at upper range again (30 psi). I open the filter, and it is that same dirty beige again. I can't keep cleaning, so I repeated the clean once per week for four weeks. The problem continues.
FC: 7.5 ppm
CC: 0
pH: 7.7
TA: 80 ppm
CH: 525 ppm
CYA: 51 ppm
Salt: 2726 ppm

What do you think? Do I just keep repeating the cleaning process? Could I have an algae and need to SLAM?
Regards,
Pete

Neglected Pool

I have a neglected pool and welcome your advice (long story). The current status:
  • Water is an odd mix of turquoise and brown with obvious green algae and possible black algae.
  • I have been adding daily liquid chlorine at SLAM level for two weeks, but between sun, algae, and offscale CYA (<20), FC measures offscale low (<0.5) the next day.
  • I have floating Trichlor tablets adding trace levels of FC and CYA, for what it’s worth.
  • Ph is offscale high (>8.2, but it was 7.6 when I started the liquid chlorine.)
  • There is quite a bit of sediment in the bottom, too fine for the skimming net and there are occasional clumps of something that does not want to give up its water content.
  • The pump is dead. I have a new Pentair Intelliflo 3 to replace it with.
  • The cartridge filters did not seem very effective at clearing the water before the pump died. (Do they really work?)
  • The pool needs resurfacing, but I can’t afford that yet (already replaced roof, HVAC, and plumbing, finally getting to the pool.
  • I’d like to convert to a SWG and replace the broken heater for the spa.
  • This is Tucson, AZ.
If I keep up with chlorine and brushing while getting the new pump installed, will the cartridge filter be able to clear the water?

Can I install my own pump, or do I need to hire a professional? (I’m handy and an electrical engineer.)

Is there a more effective way to bring up the sediment than scraping it up in the net or agitating it so it goes through the filter (when the filter works again)?

What should be my next steps?

I’d be happy to get to a swimmable pool this summer, and deal with the rest next year.

Bestway parts from not Bestway?

Does anyone know if there's any good places to order Bestway replacement parts from other than Bestway? I'm looking for some replacement top rails for my Coleman (really Bestway) 18ft round pool but they're out of stock :(
