We have a pool company coming one more month every week but we want to do our pool maintenance ourselves to save money and to know what we’re doing. We bought the pool chlorine tablets from our Aqua Supply pool store. Our pool maintenance puts 3 tablets into our dispenser weekly and keeps the nozzle on 3. We had a new Hayward Sand filter and timer installed and bought a Hayward robot pool vacuum. The Taylor kit doesn’t explain very well what all the tubes in the kit are used for. It’s Greek to me. Do you have something I can read for Dummies? In regards to all the tubes in my Taylor kit. Thx

Any suggestions on what pump, salt cell, and filter to buy?
Are the claimar pumps any good?
Do I need to keep it at 1.25 HP or should I run a more powerful pump?

The only pipe that is labeled is the left side top which just says “skim” in sharpie. Can I open and close those valves while the pump is running to determine what they are?

The supply side should have one for the skimmer, one for the vac, and one for the bottom drain. I assume the return is just the jets and the waterfall. I didn’t think the jets would have two lines, but that makes sense.

My Calcium has been at 50 since I installed the Aqua Cal heat pump (vinyl pool). I just saw my the calcium recommendation is 200-300. What do you think? Raise the Calcium?

Hi, I recently moved into a new home with a 18x40 inground pool with an auto cover (need to update current signature). I have one APCP-1700 115-Volt, 1/3 HP, 1745 GPH pump on top of the cover for when it rains (I try to keep it in the center of the cover). It seems to be doing a decent job, but should I pool/cover this size have two pumps or is one sufficient? I attached an image - but please keep in mind it’s been raining hard all day (at least 1”), so I feel it’s not bad based on the volume of rain so far (but please let me know if I’m wrong)

Also, any tips for efficiency when taking the cover off each day, as I’ll have to constantly unplug and remove the pump each time, unless there’s a better way of doing things.

These few weeks is high shedding from trees behind our fence (combo of those helicopter things and pollen chunky things). It constantly fills the skimmers but today it happened to fill the pump basket too. The kids are a bit older and like to empty the skimmer baskets but maybe they’re letting too much down into the pump and it can clog it. Pressure reading is normally 22 when clean but it was up at 35 which had me a bit nervous. I cleared all the baskets and pressure was back to normal quickly but it made me wonder how high is too high??

Get the FC between 3 and 10 after sunset and then test before sunrise.

How are you testing salt level? You stated you do not have a Taylor kit to test salt. Normally the AquaPure sensor is within 500ppm of the actual salt level (when using a Taylor test kit - my experience) - so to be off by 1000ppm tells me however you tested salt level may be off.

I am testing with a pH/salt probe from Amazon that is similar to the one sold by TFtestkits so I guess I'm not sure how accurate it really is compared to the salt cell sensor which says 3000ppm right now.
