Foot Washer

When our pool was finished but before the landscaping was done, I kept two buckets by opposite corners of the pool for this purpose. I dumped them daily and refilled with pool water. I found adherence to be moderate among others and high for myself. To the extent they got used, it helped.

That said, I like the idea. We will be in a somewhat sandy locale for our next pool so we will have one or several wash/shower areas.

Air bubbles in outflow

T,

Another source of air, is a leaky air vent valve on the filter.. You can often hear the air being sucked into the filter, when the pump is off.

This can cause the pump to drain back into the pool, and you will get a huge amount of air into the pool when you fire up the pump.

The odd thing is that the air vent valve does not seem to leak any water out.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Stamped Concrete Decking Repair

I acid stained my concrete deck but the 10 year old surface was in good shape to begin with. I don't seal. I like the product and how it is lasting two years on. Original stain was water based and was gone in 10 years. I have no input on the surface preparation from a rehabilitation standpoint. As a side note, I have 3 or 4 unopened gallons of Concrete Camouflage acid stain (one of each color used) that are free to a good home but I won't ship them. I will however, be in eastern NC in a few weeks. ;)

Cleaning Pool after Floc

Thanks
As it can be seen , I had send a lot of water to waste but still have a lot of dust on the bottom.
I have been trying for to weeks to vacuum the dust using portable vacuum, and the last to days with robotic vacuum as well.
since a lot of water coming out of waste mode,
What I usually do , is open the waste for few minutes when I see that the dust settled.
Since I have a overflowing pool , I closed the valve to the balance tank and vacuum water from the bottom of the pool ( from some reason , water level drops rapidly but dust is still on the floor)

Cleaning Pool after Floc

Show us a picture of the pool, your setup for manually vacuuming, and the plumbing going to/from your filter. It will make it so much easier to then advise.

With floc, after it settles on the bottom, one MUST set your vacuum so that water is discharged on the ground or into a drain - never through the filter, or back into the pool. The vacuum must be moved VERY slowly across the bottom to suck up the settled floc. As you note, it is very easy to disturb and it breaks up into "dust". You will empty a lot of water out of the pool by doing this, likely so much you have to stop vacuuming to refill. Add chlorine as you refill the pool the last time for this cleaning session - you need to get a good reserve built up for the next step.

Some of the dust will resettle - and you will have to repeat the above. Give it at least a full day, and better 2 or even 3 days, in between attempts to clean. Do NOT run your pumps or filters during this waiting period - you want the water as still as you can to encourage the dust to settle. Hence the chlorine.

You may have to repeat this one or two times, depending on how much floc you used.

Air bubbles in outflow

Most common is the gasket/o-ring for the lid on the pump. Inspect for dirt or damage. Generously lube. Perhaps replace.
Second most common is any drain plug at the bottom of the pump. Same instructions for the o-ring.....
Third might be the union connecting the inlet pipe to the pump basket. Much less likely to be an issue, though. But you may want to check if it is pretty hand tight (no tools ever!!). Some use an o-ring there too, so inspection and lube can't hurt.

Those three are under suction when the pump is running, so can be a source of air. They may not ever show a sign of a leak when the pump is off.

Air bubbles in outflow

I just recently noticed air bubbles entering the pool through the pool jets. There’s also a significant amount of bubbles in the pump basket, and when the pump stops, the system loses its pine. I’ve had this happen in the past and the culprit was a leaky gasket on one of the valves leading to the pump, and I discovered this because when the pump is off water would leak from the valve gaskets. Now, when I turn off the pump, I did not see the presence of water anywhere in the pool pump area, however, the system does lose its prime. My assumption is that air coming into the system is due to a leak prior to the pump, dry air Into the water. There are two sources of water, once in the main drain and one in the filter basket. I can shut each one off individually, and the air remains in the system, which leads me to believe the leak must be after the valves. Is my logic solid? What else might I look for
Thanks in advance
