Under construction in McKinney Tx (Complete)

I was curious what kind of decking you have? We have an extension of our patio that we did a few years ago that is stamped concrete -- and we are looking to do sundeck for our decking. I was worried it would look strange having 2 different materials next to each other.
I have almost exactly what you are describing. If you look at my picture higher up in this thread you can see the stamped concrete patio we had prior to the pool (darker color). The lighter section is a kool deck or similar. That was installed with the pool. The stamped section gets very hot in the summer (could be due to color). I didn't like the idea of 2 different kinds either but my existing was rather large and I didn't want to remove it.

Re: Under construction in McKinney Tx

Thanks - that is good to know. We are putting a section of flowerbed in between to create 2 different pathways from the existing patio and the decking...to create a break. But I do agree with you Cajun -- our stamped concrete patio gets hot (it's darker like yours) and it can be a little slick when it rains. I just didn't feel good about putting it around the pool.

all plants and sprinkler heads are in. What a difference. Hoping to get sod by the end of the week.

Fence guy tomorrow, stone and sod before the end of the week.next Monday set equipment, Tuesday is electrical and Pebblesheen by the end of next week if all goes as planned.

Re: Under construction in McKinney Tx

It is looking good! I am suprised you are doing all the sod, fence etc before the plaster? Any reason for that? It takes a while to get the pool clear, we have had water for over a week and its still cloudy, ours is quartz so that may be the difference. Anyway, however it will be great just curious!

We are still working on our sod and figuring out what to do about landscaping so you are way ahead of us in that regard!

Re: Under construction in McKinney Tx

I have no idea why they are doing it in that order. Already behind this week as the fence guy came this morning and discussed what needed to be done and then took off to another job to never return. With the rain coming tonight, sod most likely will not be until next Monday.

Re: Under construction in McKinney Tx

For us they would not fill till the fence was up. I'm not sure if it was a liability or code issue. Also in our area due to the water table once they fill in the groundwater holes and plaster they immediately begin filling the pool.

Re: Under construction in McKinney Tx

Same holds true for us as well. As for laying the sod and landscaping I guess it provides a cleaner area for the plaster and final setups.

Spa is 18" higher than than the pool level. The round part of the patio is 6" and the wall is 12" above pool level. We did not want it too high. I can stand in 3.5' of water and lean on the spa and talk to people in the spa. It's about shoulder high at 5'

Re: Under construction in McKinney Tx

Frustration. Why can't people take more pride in their work. The mason came out to fix the stone steps where they put white stone with broken ones. The steps look better, but the chipped out the pour decking and finished the facing with different stones. Instead of using chopped stone like what was used all away he used a piece of flagstone. Half of it is mortar

Re: Under construction in McKinney Tx

I'm not happy, but it is not a window we normally look out and all we see is the fence 4 feet behind it anyway. Not worth the hassel for me to have it changed.
