I am not losing any chlorine overnight at this point. Right now my cya is sitting at 50 so from what I read everywhere I should have 6 as my target FC and for as my minimum. During times of extra heat or extra swimmers I believe I should have a Target FC of 8 to give me room for extra loss during the day. Does that sound about right everybody?
So today I had about 4 to 6 people in my pool all day long with pretty good mid-90s Heat so I put my FC levels at 10 and through the day they dropped to right at 4... I think I really do have this!
I did notice that it was looking a little bit cloudy today... I think I'm going to have to consider upgrading my pump and filter system at some point now that I know what I'm looking at more... I haven't done any reading on that topic yet but definitely plan to. My vacation is over as of tonight and I'm back to work as normal but I will definitely be keeping up things on a daily basis
I have done a few of those over the last week and don't seem to be losing anything overnight. We have been in the pool pretty much from early morning till dark almost constantly for a week so I think I'm just making it work a little overtime right now that it's not used to!
I don't know if cloudy is the right word...it is clear, I can see through it no problem , just looks kinda dirty maybe? I'm not showing any combined chlorine and I'm not having any overnight loss.
LOL your pool now has SPARKLEITIES!!!! :sun: You are now a pool snob! You will not be able to get in another public pool or home pool that is not kept the TFP way. None of them will look as good as yours!
You have gotten used to how it can look so when it gets a little overused you can tell just by looking at it. Up your pump run time when you have the swimming you have had. I would think about running it overnight when your family is there to help it out some.
Fun times! Now go back to your first post and see how far you have come!
Kim:cat: (looking forward to see you on the boards helping others soon!)
Pool seems to be pretty okay today i think, so I think you may be right ! I guess I'm getting to be Sparklesnob!
I have actually been running my pump 24/7 due to the Heat that we're dealing with and the extra people load. I will probably switch my filter out again tonight or at least pull it out and clean it.
My brother and his wife got on the plane today to leave and go back home and I can't thank you all enough for helping me make it a wonderful 2 weeks with lots of swimming! I seem to have the process of keeping my chlorine under control pretty down pat and now that everybody's gone I think it's time to start the process of looking at all of my numbers and getting them all into balance. We have been dealing with extreme heat for the last week so I'm using between 80 and 100 ounces of liq chlorine per day. Today my chlorine levels dropped to 3.5 after being brought up to a 9 last night. I'm not losing any chlorine overnight and my CC is usually zero but a few times has been .5 and my pH is staying steady at 7.5 so far. I will try to get a full set of numbers tomorrow and begin the process of getting the TA into balance...time to study up!!!
This is how happy my husband is right now with everything that I've done with the help of the folks on this forum... he trusted me completely to do the research and make the decisions , supported me all the way and is very impressed with everything that has happened and how our pool looks...
I think I've learned enough that I'm going to go ahead and let this thread stand on its own and start a new one somewhere for some other questions I have. I hope anyone new to this forum has the patience to read this entire exchange so they can see just how helpful everybody is here and how well this process works. Cookies are in the mail! Lol
