I'm going to drain and refill my pool. This is not related to any algae issue and my FC has always been at normal levels. Do I just have to shoot for a FC goal within normal range, or should I be slamming to start?
Just add water and add your stabilizer. If you're not dealing with algae you don't have to SLAM. People in your area of the country often deal with too high calcium yet the pool is fine otherwise.
The FC level then is based on your stabilizer level. See this --> [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]

Yup, that's why I'm doing it. Just replaced my Intellichlor so I'm giving the new one a fresh start. CH is currently measuring around 1300. My plan is to add the appropriate amount of salt per the app, cya, and chlorine to get it into normal range
