Pool heater recommendation

Hello,

I'm looking to have heater installed on my 20x40 (30,000 gallon) pool. How much BTU should I be looking into purchasing? Any model recommendations?

400K BTU natural gas heater from Raypak.

Natural gas. I see you have a Pentair Mastertemp 400 BTU. Why do you recommend the Raypak over the Pentair?

Pentair Mastertemp has a smaller cube form factor that fits into my area better. To achieve this it has a forced draft blower which makes it more complicated and costly to repair. Blower on MasterTemp is noisy but my equipment pad is away from the pool area.

Raypak has a natural draft and is a taller unit with exhaust out of the top instead of the side from the MasterTemp.

They are both fine units.

Hello!! I have a 20x40 pool with a deep end and diving board. How many gallons of water do I have? I would like to get a pool heater. How many BTUs do you think I should be getting? Thanks all!!!

20x40' pool with average depth of 5' is 30,000 gallons. Figure yours is 30,000+ gallons.

You need a 400K BTU heater which will heat your pool a bit over1 degree an hour.
