O/B in Gilbert, AZ for 2nd time

I just thought of a problem we need to solve and I need your help. My husband and I just booked a trip to Hawaii for the end of the month. We were the first Disney Cruise cancelled last March just 2 days before we were supposed to leave and we've had 2 more cancel on us. His brother asked if we wanted to go with them and split the time share and we are getting a great deal. We can't wait to finally go somewhere but we expect to have new plaster by then. We think we'll have plaster within 2 weeks unless something comes up so that means it will only be a week or 2 old before we leave. We'll be adding liquid chlorine since we won't be able to use the SWG yet. I will have to find someone to brush the pool each day but I'm worried about the chlorine. I know people say to put in some pucks in a floater and add some extra liquid chlorine before leaving but will that work on a newly plastered pool? Our son and his wife may be coming to stay here so I can have him do some minimal testing but I don't want him to have to learn how to do everything. Should I just have him do the pH and FC test in the little square thing or is that not enough? Please help calm my nerves about this.

Before you go test every day & see how much chlorine you are averaging a day, then when you go just bust some down in daily doses to cover you & have them brush, check PH, add ur chlorine dose & however much acid for PH 🤷‍♀️ Just what I would do

Thanks to both of you. Helped calm my nerves a bit. We booked the trip then last night I was laying in bed and thought of it. Bad timing that's for sure but it will work.

I wondered if your pool builder would do the work while you're gone. Ours offered to water our gunite. Pool places hire out workers to tend pools. It may cost too much though but another option.

she could just use me & my son at that point lol have kit will travel 😂😂

We are installing our pool fence and I'm wondering about bonding it. Can we just connect the copper wire to the fence and then connect that to the one already attached to the pool?

I believe if it's less than 5 feet from the water's edge it needs to be bonded. If it has a gate in it, sections on both sides of the gate need to be bonded. Mine has a bonding lug screwed into it and the copper wire was attached between the fence and the pool shell and decking bonding wire.

I also have a metal framed window and the lower edge of the stucco/stem wall metal edge within about 7 feet that they bonded.

My son said that for the Marines they ground something by attaching a copper wire to a piece is rebar that is down in the ground. We have a double gate so one side we can attach to the grounding wire that is attached to the pool which is then attached to a piece is rebar in the ground by the equipment. The other side would be a super long run of copper which would be very expensive. So much better to do it the Marines way and have it's own rebar if it will pass inspection. We don't need the fence to pass inspection but I don't want to fail because of it either.

Technically, that setup wouldn't meet the bonding requirement as it all wouldn't be connected to the POOL bonding grid. And rebar pounded into the ground at the equipment pad for use in the POOL bonding grid isn't to code either. You may wish to check with an electrician qualified in swimming pool electrical and the current code before spending money to do something that may not meet code. And check with the city building code guys - they are the ones ultimately signing off after inspection.

I'm sure they did the right thing to ground it by the equipment since it passed inspection. My son just glanced at it and that's what it liked like from above ground. But we decided to attach the copper to the far side of the gate, run the wire underground to attach at the opposite side of the gate, then father down on that side of the fence we will attach more copper wire and run it to where the rest of the bonding is by the equipment.

They finished the tile and initial clean up yesterday. They still need to come back and finish scraping some of the concrete off. Don't know why they didn't just do it all yesterday 🙄. Tomorrow is inspection 🙏🏻. Deck guy needs to come put the texture on the deck and then plaster. Getting close!

The pool waterline tile is Noble Nihon Kyoto.

So the tile guy and his wife, who own the company, came by today to look at it. I guess it's what they always do to make sure it is all done right. The owner is coming back tomorrow to do the final touch ups and put silicone between the tile and the deck to help prevent cracking. She said that the guy who worked on our pool was scared of me 😬. I like to watch the workers because it's fun for me to see the progress. He told her that I stand at the window and watch. I do, but I feel bad for making him nervous.
She said if we pass inspection tomorrow that we can get pebble on Friday. 🤞🙏🤞🙏

What they are scared of is you seeing them do something wrong LOL My roofers ended up inviting me up as they got tired of shouting back and forth with me. They really liked me when I went and got everyone lunch to go with the cooler of drinks I already had for them!
