That's great, Jim. No, I haven't heard anything either. Cliff is probably too busy taking care of his crop. Poor guy.

I never would have thought of using stakes. But of course, that's perfect!!!

You're just flitting around helping out here and there. Know that you're appreciated by many!!

Hello to all...I have been a little busy working on the yard (what a mess) and I have things back under control. I contacted the sod farm and they are stepping up where my lawn install guy failed! Sod farm will deliver 3 pallets of sod to replace the area that was washed out the end of August or first week of September and only charging me for delivery ($150).

With a little direction from jimim I have re-configured my ethernet runs and installed ethernet switch boxes in three rooms for greater flexibility. Thanks Jim!

Now for pool stuff...I have been slowly raising my numbers in preparation for SWG next week. I did overshoot just a little but hopefully no harm done.

CH 325
CYA 70
CSI -0.27
Temp 90

I will push FC up to 8 and CH 350 or slightly higher. As always comments are appreciated for sure!
 
WOW that is AWESOME the sod farm is stepping up! To bad the installer is not :( Will you be using the pins/stacks to hold the new sod down/in place?

Wow... it took me a couple of hours to read through all of the posts on your build... well, I skipped most of the water testing stuff because I got too overwhelmed and didn't want to scare myself too badly, lol. This is our first pool and I have no idea what all them numbers and levels and testing means yet. I know I will learn, but goodness gracious it is overwhelming right now!

I absolutely LOVE your pool! All of the choices you made are perfect and everything looks gorgeous.

I'm so glad I found this site!
 
Kim: LOL!!! I remember exactly how you feel about the testing and chemistry. I was terrified! But I did it, and had all the help I needed and then some. If you're going to be the one to do the testing, it might help to read one short section in Pool School at a time. I liked printing them out, so I could stop, breathe, go do something else, and go back to it later.

When you get your gunite, Kim (Kimkats) will send you several links from Pool School to get you started, so you have plenty of time to read and ask questions before your pool is filled. You're welcome to read anytime before then, too. There are also links for some good videos to use with your new test kit.

Trust me, if this old lady can learn how to test her water and keep it sparkling and crystal clear, anyone can do it. And..... I actually enjoy doing it! It's so nice to know our water is in tip-top shape for swimming.

By the time you're ready to start testing, who knows? Cliff may be the one leading you through it! Right Cliff?!!! NJK

Hi Kim - I repaired the area as best I could just to get the area covered with the old sod. When the new sod comes I will stake/pin for sure.

Im so happy with my pool as it looks crystal clear and happy to report all is well with the girls skin thus far. Still can't wait for the SWG as I think that will be best!

Thanks Kimber1...I was just like you (overwhelmed) just a short time ago. Trust me you are in great hands with these folks at TFP! It will all come together and you will be a pool guru as well.

Ha ha Suz...I will assist for sure as we all learn we have to pay it forward to others. However, I'm still a baby at this and still reading as there is so much to digest. You inspire my confidence...thank you!!

Thats very cool about the sod place. I think that's a win for you. I would call the landscaper and tell him that he FAILED! Lol

you get all the changes inside working? Easy right!? You get those little netgear ones or something different?

Deff try to find those metal ones that are bent on the top. They will make smaller holes so u can keep them in longer vs the plastic ones nes but if all u can find are the plastic ones so be it. They will hold that sod down through a hurricane even. :)
 
Yep Jim the landscaper failed for sure...however I think he felt a lot of guilt because he has been here rolling the sod out every day, checking the water schedule and adjusting, he even put down some slow release fertilizer. Oh and to top it off he saw the spikes for the sod and took it upon himself to pin things down in the troubled area and marked them with orange spray paint dots so we can pull them out in a couple of weeks...

I ended up getting the plastic ethernet switch boxes by TP-Link since that is the brand router I have and it looks sleek :) Everything is wired at the main box and I put one in the office as well as media room. Lots more wired connectivity.

All will be well because I have this beauty thanks to TFP :)

New question for all...

My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter has become super confident around the water (have to guard against over confident) and loves holding her breath under water. The problem is that she often opens her mouth too soon and has been ingesting water which has caused her to throw up in the pool twice now (yuk). What should I do to the pool when this happens? Thus far I get everyone out of the pool and scoop up what I can, turn pump on high and slightly over chlorinate the pool. I normally bump my FC up to a target of 8 each evening but when she has an accident I push my FC up to 10 at night. Is there anything else I can do??

That is fine, there really isn't much risk of bacteria or illness from stomach contents as the stomach acid will kill most of it and the chlorine will quickly kill the remainder. Bumping FC to 10 is sufficient. I'm sure she'll learn quickly to stop swallowing so much pool water.
