Ok, well this is what I need to know. So I would like a gas heater for pool and seems like I could not even use a 250BUT gas heater correct? I guess I need to completely upgrade my combi unit to use a gas heater for my pool? Why wouldn't any of these pool guys even ask what I'm using for a combi unit/boiler etc. in my house

Then buy a gas pool heater. Pool heaters are dedicated to the water circuit of the pool. Any gas heater you buy will be integrated into the pool water circuit to heat your pool water. You would not mix your water heating for the house and water heating for the pool.

Ok maybe I'm confused. I am getting a separate gas heater for the pool. But I thought my Navien combi/boiler unit in my house had to be rated with enough btu's to now also supply my pool heater, correct?

No. Your Navien will stay your Navien and heat your house water. The pool water will be heated by a stand alone heater connected to your pool water circuit. You pool heater works by itself...

You will need a sufficiently sized gas connection to your new pool heater.

Yes but I was thinking since I'm running a gas line from my navien to the pool heater the size, btu's etc. of my navien matters. No?

So I need to run a gas line from the meter location and not the gas boiler? Ugh. I just finished my basement and the meter is on one side(front of house) and my boiler is on the other side( back of house) and it would be SOOO much easier to run gas line from boiler location to backyard.

If the gas line to the boiler is big enough, you can do that, but it is unlikely to be big enough.

Can you describe the line size, length and pressure?

How far from the boiler to the pool heater?

"Pool" guys rarely know about installing gas lines and gas appliances.

You need a person specifically licensed to install gas plumbing and gas appliances.

Typically a plumber or HVAC person with the proper license.

In New York City, installing or altering gas appliances or gas piping requires a permit and must be done by a licensed master plumber.

You can find information on permits and applications on the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) website.
