I have had this heat pump (HP21404T) working very well for over 2 years - suddenly starting tripping shortly after turning on, anywhere between 5-45 seconds, usually short.
My pool guys are swamped -

1 - attached photos
2 - electrician who originally installed came by, lines, power readings looked good, even replaced the breaker.
3 - capacitor looked ok, but anyway tried replaced capacitor with shown, didnt change anything, still trips quickly
4 - did not see anything loose, chewed through, burnt out, etc

any ideas?

thanks,
Ian

Welcome to TFP.

Anyone put a clamp on ammeter on the electrical line and see what amps it is drawing?

Does it pop the CB when the compressor engages?

Have an HVAC guy check it out.

I suspect the compressor is shot.

I have a 6 year old HP21404T that the compressor was not running. Had an HVAC guy out today who confirmed my compressor is shot. He was surprised because everything looked brand new inside and was ok. Now my dilemma, repair at the tune of 3k or replace for 5k. The compressor warranty is 5 year, so hopefully you can take advantage of it if needed.
