Tomorrow is the big day...pool opening!!! So now what???

Ok the pool is full and I am gathering my plan of attack. Is this everything I need to do?
1. Prime the pump (we have a new one and the pool was empty)
2. Backwash the filter (sand)
3 run the filter and have water tested
4. Balance the water
5. Apply chemicals
6. SLAM or Shock (sorry not fimaliar with SLAM currently educating myself?
7. Run filter for 24 hours
8. Enjoy the Pool!

Anything I am missing or anything you can help me with would be great.
I am trying to read everything here on the site and forum.

Looks like a plan to me.

Do you have your own proper test kit? You need that to manage your water effectively.

Depending on how your water looks and what your water chemistry test results show, you may not need a SLAM Process.

Post up your initial test results and folks will provide some guidance.
