Happy Easter.

No, please do not add clarifiers. It it on our list of non-reoommended pool chemicals.

Only add recommended chemicals when needed.

You just need to give it time to filter! It will clear up!

Keep fc @ slam level as often as possible & let it filter.
Keep brushing/vacuuming daily.
So far it’s only been 2 full days - once all the live algae has been killed the dead algae will stop accumulating. You’re simply not there yet. Yes, a sand filter is a little slower at clearing the dead algae but you should notice less & less accumulation & clarity improvement daily. There’s no exact timeline for how long that can take. Many slams take at least a week or longer depending upon the condition at the start along with diligence.
Keep slamming until u meet all 3 end of slam criteria.
No shortcuts, sorry.
The goal is to ensure you have truly eradicated the algae- not just make it look like you have. Clarifier is just a bandaid & can hide the sign that there’s still a problem (dead algae accumulation), until after you prematurely end the slam & the visible algae problem returns.
Clarifiers also have some unsavory consequences as listed in the article above.
After you have gone a week with no overnight fc loss & low daily loss then the de can be helpful for the final push for clarity. Even then, after the pool is mostly clear, it requires babysitting the filter.

update:

Ive been keeping up slam levels despite unseasonable weather here (30 degrees celsius and sun all day) and CYA 30.
usual nightly drop is 0.5 or less. daily consumption 2.5 or so

Pantić, my robot, roams twice a day, i brush the slopes he doesnt reach. he is getting the ultra fine basket next week

the amount of dead algae on the floor is steadily less and water has been crystal clear since i clarified it earlier in the week (whatever, sorry, means to an end, i still continued the slam)

the skimmer sock and basket are catching all sorts of things and filter has been backwashed twice so far as needed.

hopefully will wind this down in a few days then start adding salt (SWG was installed), lower pH and raise CYA.
