After new VS pump installation - leak exposed?

I recently installed a new VS pump. I did my own plumbing, it was in and out, an easy job. I'm losing water, for December in South Florida I don't recall evaporation to be an issue in past seasons. I don't see any evident leaks on the new connections. Nor I see watermarks or any puddles near...

NEW to VS pumps - How to calculate turnaround?

I've set two timers, the main one at 1200 RPM from 9 am to 9 pm (12 hours), and then another one that kicks in the middle of it at noon for 2 hours of 2500 RPM for the suction cleaner. SWCG will turn on at 10 am and go to sleep at 8 pm for a total of 10 hours @ 55% of SWCG, which will produce...

I had a Pentair WhisperFlo 1.5HP. I'll try your suggestions. Thank you.

NEW to VS pumps - How to calculate turnaround?

OK lots of good comments and suggestions (as always); thank you. I'm going to start by figuring out the lowest RPM that would make my SWCG flow switch happy. Then add the suggested 100 RPM buffer. Once that is under control I'll come back and continue the rest of the conversation (max RPM for...

NEW to VS pumps - How to calculate turnaround?

Before changing the pump I was doing two 4 hour cycles, one in the morning starting at 9 am and another in the evening starting a 6 pm, for a total of 8 hours a day of run time. SWCG was set at 90% doing those 8 hours. The cleaner was always in the pool hooked to the skimmer port. I don't have...

NEW to VS pumps - How to calculate turnaround?

I just replaced my old single speed pump with a Hayward TriStar 1.85HP VS pump. I have 1.5" plumbing. How can I calculate the flow rate GPM at XX RPM with this pump and this plumbing size? My goal is to use this information to schedule my different speeds and intervals to move the 13k...

    Filter "exploited"

Can I use an all wire brush for the algae on new plaster?

    Filter "exploited"

Well, no cartridge in stock around my area. Ended up ordering online. Any concern with running the pump thru the filter without a cartridge until Thursday (will it damage my equipment or piping)? I want to have the water moving to start mixing all the baking soda, acid and cl I'm going to pour.

    Filter "exploited"

Unfortunately I think you are 100% right. Exactly how I feel; exactly what I think it’s happening. Sad that it’s like that. I was already on the verge; just waiting for the clorine to stop false reading to go back to normal business....but then today the filter cartrige exploited/imploded.

    Filter "exploited"

Oh, forgot to mention, I was alto totally skeptical about it. When they came to “inspect” the show me: took me to one of the areas, he applied the powder; inmediately started to react and the whitish came off. Maybe a lucky spot. But after seeying that I had to give it a try...

    Filter "exploited"

This filter has the the top opening as the inlet. Bottom opening is to pool. Outlet of pump correctly piped to filter upper opening. I had a small 90sq hayward filter. Same whisperflow. While on the renovation job I replaced the filter by this 200sq. Same pump was used. I never had an issue...

    Filter "exploited"

I t That’s a whole different story. I complained, threy came to “inspect”. This is what they concluded needed to be done. They are not taking the blame. Only thing left is to lawyer up and to be honest for a 3k$ resurface job I’m not sure it’s worth it. They know that also, that’s why this...

    Filter "exploited"

I added the “the filter fiber stuff” a product by Jacks Magic. I suspect of it, bur can’t realy know for sure. Filter is properly instaled. I’ll grt back to you on the PSI as soon I get back home. It was 10 over the “clean” PSI.

    Filter "exploited"

Don't even know where to start here. Well, see the pictures. Some background story: - Both the filter encasing and the cartridge not more than 3 months of usage. - Pool recently resurfaced (November 2018) - Big areas of decoloration after the 30-day curing process (proper chemistry kept and...

    Filter too small?

Looking at the official manual for the 150sfp it's actually rated for 120GPM, almost the same as the 3030. Inyopools mistakenly lists the 150sqf as 150GPM (and 200GPM for the 200sqf!).

    Filter too small?

Looking at the specs on these two http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02201212000434.htm and http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02200011078399.htm seems like the one I sent earlier (150sqf) is rated for 150GPM while 3030 (324 sqf) is 122 GPM. I should be OK flow-wise with the 150spf? I'm thinking...

    Filter too small?

I usually go by the red mark on the pressure gauge. When it is closer to the red than the green. After clean measure it's around 10psi.

    Filter too small?

Im redoing my piping while pool company is working on new deck, waterline tile and new plaster. To show off I showed the main guy my work so far and he commented that my current filter might be too small for my pool. He's not trying to up-sell me because he actually said that he cant compete...

Any ideas what this pipe might be for?

You mean connect the 1" to the return side (pipe immediately to the right in the picture)?

Any ideas what this pipe might be for?

Connecting the pipe to a valve and feed it back to the main plumbing to run the cleaner out of it, that 1" diameter is it going to be an issue?

Any ideas what this pipe might be for?

I'm redoing my equipment plumbing and I'm wandering what the stand alone pipe at the left might be for. It's been disconnected - and uncapped -since I got the house. The equipment piping - coming from the pool also - is 1.5" but the one in question is 1". Ideas? Maybe #1: There is a closed...

    Plumbing best practices

I'm about to re-pipe my setup. Got some nice Jandy NeverLube valves. Per instructions I'm already got WeldOn 724 and matching primer. Now, in regards to fittings, coupling, and piping, can someone please point me to a good source of "best practices" for pool plumbing? Like, what to avoid, what...
