    Flex tape liner repairs

How about an update thread for anyone who has used some unconventional or DIY repairs for liners. Anywhere from a traditional liner on an in ground pool to liners on AGP and Intex pools. how did your repair hold up? did you have a minor leak or multiple spots? Did you end up replacing your...

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

I have less than a one inch tear but it’s just under the seam at the bottom of the pool. Just covered it on the outside and inside with flex seal tape. The pool had been drained while we re leveled and had about 2 inches of water in it when I noticed the leak. Let’s hope this holds, year 4 with...

Pool newbie hoping to upgrade filter

Just make sure you put the filter where the hoses will reach both the intake and return easily. I made a mistake and put the filter full of sand a little too far away, but I used a PVC hose connector to link two intex hoses to reach. Good thing the pump came with it's own hoses, so I had two...

What the HECK!! Cant bring water back to CLEAR

For now use powder to bring it up to 30 and SLAM using liquid chlorine. Once your pool is back to clear bump your CYA up to 60 or 70 and let the SWG get going again. For now I'd leave the SWG off until you clear up the pool.

Can't get my pool clear! Help!!

I can answer that! https://www.troublefreepool.com/calc.html Use PoolMath. Enter your current FC and a target of 12 - I used your details from your signature and with current FC of 5 it will take 1.4 gallons to get to 12. Then you want to KEEP it at 12 as long as possible until you complete the...

    Algae in newly opened pool

Filter should be on 24/7 until the water is clear, then it should run 8-12 hours a day. Chlorine is just bleach in a higher concentration. A salt water system uses salt to convert to chlorine, so the only way you'd taste it is if you put too much salt in the pool to start it up. I think if you...

Filter Issues trying to clear up my swamp

Sounds like a plan Robs. Make sure you brush the walls tomorrow morning when you have your filter on. Brushing will loosen that algae's hold on your pool so it can be killed by the bleach. Stay with it! Your pool is going to look AMAZING! - - - Updated - - - Also, on the bottom of the PoolMath...

    First time test results

From what I know about pH and chlorine, if your CL level is over 10 your pH reading will be wack. Just keep working on your slam and you can fix the pH when you're done. Your SLAM will probably be over in a day or two if pool is pretty clear. - - - Updated - - - And yes thank goodness for the...

I hate pool stores. Need help with test kit

Oh I see. Yeah pulling some weeds will help! be careful with a weed eater near the pool because it could tear it quite easily. I hand pull the weeds near mine because I don't have a pretty border like yours. (It's under there, somewhere! :) )

I have this one: https://smile.amazon.com/Intex-28001E-Auto-Pool-Cleaner/dp/B00GSPHSRO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496340888&sr=8-1&keywords=intex+automatic+pool+cleaner Does a good job cleaning up leaves. I was scared to put it in when I couldn't see the bottom so I waited until the pool was clear...

I hate pool stores. Need help with test kit

I think you should start adding half a gallon of regular strength bleach a day until your test kit comes. If you don't have any chlorine in it right now, you can let it get started on the green. And brush brush brush so the algae cannot stick to the walls and floor. - - - Updated - - -...

Is it normal to still be green?

Are you staying at SLAM level with chlorine? With 60 CYA your FC should be at 24. Are you backwashing when necessary (pressure rises?). - - - Updated - - - Don't forget to brush rigorously also. It'll loosen up the algae from where it is trying to stick to the wall and floors so the chlorine...

    Green pool

I agree with Richie rich, Maybe fill it up 1/3 of the way and start adding chlorine and move it around good with a brush. That way you're attacking the algae much faster and at higher doses than if the pool was full. Then start adding more water and chlorine until it is full, start up the pump...

    Green pool

You can assume you don't have any chlorine in the pool since it has been green for a year. You will want to get a leaf rake and start scooping out as much junk as possible. Then add water so it covers at least your intake so you don't run the pump dry. Start the pump when you can be around to...
