Oh ok, sorry I misunderstood that. Definitely not the pump then, follow JamesW's advice with replacing the capacitor.

    Pump RPMs

As Jim stated, here's a thread I started last week dealing with Spillover schedules. Just note, this will not turn on your SWG cell, so leave your pool schedule the same. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/runtimes-for-pool-spa-combos.200386/

    Pump RPMs

I would still run the higher speed cleaning cycle of the pump for 4 hours as you have originally set up. This will ensure that your pool is getting a good circulation and that the skimmers are giving the surface water a good cleaning. You can then run the robot as needed to keep the floor and...

    Help replacing/adding equipment

Have you tried uncoupling the pump from the motor and tried running the motor? This is always my first step when diagnosing pump/motor issues because it will tell you if the problem lies in the mechanical side (pump) or the electrical side (motor).

    Pump RPMs

How you have it seems pretty accurate. No reason to run the pump at a higher speed other than for cleaning and/or some of the features. My question is, are you running a control system for your pool equipment? (Easytouch or Intellitouch). If so, you can program features independently and set...

need help selecting SWG, pump, and filter for my 24' AGP

Yea what they spec'd out is probably overkill, but I have 5 returns in the pool plus the spa spillover function. With that volume, it creates a very nice waterfall off the overflow. I'm completely happy with it, even though I was more than irritated initially once I realized what they had...

Yea I have good storage for it, and no chlorine for me.

need help selecting SWG, pump, and filter for my 24' AGP

It's not absolutely necessary to have a 2-speed pump for a SWG, but definitely would be best for your power bill. I personally have a single speed Whisperflo because that's what the equipment guy spec'd out for cost savings, and I didn't realize it until it was too late. I don't have any...

Question regarding Sodium Bisulfate (Dry Acid)

Yea I don't plan on using it all at once, but since it doesn't have a shelf life I won't have to worry about not having it when I need it now  We don't have any local paint stores short of going into San Antonio, which I really don't want to do right now with the virus running through...

Please help me balance my pool just refilled new pool owner

I'm no expert on adding chlorine as I have a SWG, but you'll definitely want to keep bringing those FC levels up. You also need to add some CYA and bring that up to 30-50. Refer to the Chlorine/CYA chart as to how much chlorine is desired.

    Rookie Pool in Sin City

Yes you definitely want to add MA. From some calcs I just plugged in, you should add around 99 fl oz. to get the pH down to around 7.4. This will also lower the TA which is high as well. Add the MA to the deepest part of the pool, and you can dilute it with water when you add it for an added...

Complete newbie getting started with my first pool

It won't lower the pH, but it will certainly help reduce the rate it increases. Lowering the pH is done through adding MA, which will lower the TA in return. Since your TA is really high, continue adding MA until the pH is in the low 7's, then aerate to increase the pH to the upper 7's and...

    Floating weir system

Serenity, I just purchased a similar system (Skim-a-round) that I saw on FB. It's a floating weir and basket combo, that has an outer ring which creates a seal in the skimmer housing when the pump in running. It works unbelievably once I made a few tweeks. First question, is there some sort...

Looking to install a salt water chlorine generator.

I did just see that you're running the Intelliflo VSP, so you could always increase your RPM's just a bit if it does become an issue, which as I mentioned earlier I don't think it will.

Looking to install a salt water chlorine generator.

I also agree with rotating the filter 90° clockwise. In doing so, you're going to increase total head psi off the pump due to the additional 90's (reduced PSI at filter) which will ultimately reduce circulation rate, but it should be minimal and there's just really no other option if you want...

    SWG run time and %

I agree with that Jim, I was just pointing out either initially or once in a while shouldn't be a problem. If someone is constantly having to run it, they're either undersized on the SWG or they need to identify the problem causing that. It was more about what I have just done on a new pool...

    SWG run time and %

I was basing mine off of a VERY liberal 10k hour life expectancy and the lowest I've found a cell replacement online (~$550), but the numbers still remain low. The PB who taught me this said he never uses LC on a salt pool unless it was improperly maintained and in need of SLAM.

    SWG run time and %

I understand what you're saying Jim, I was only thinking of this as a 1 time process in order to get a new pool up to proper levels. Most likely it will only take 24 hrs to really bring up the FC, and that's not a ton of run time in the grand scheme of SWG life. I did this on my new install...

Question regarding Sodium Bisulfate (Dry Acid)

Thanks AJ! I was just figuring a 1 time dose shouldn't effect things too much, and I have told the local store to order 8-10 gallons of MA at a time and I'll buy them all. That way when I get down to the last couple of gallons over time, I'll have them order some more!

Question regarding Sodium Bisulfate (Dry Acid)

So my local general store ran out of MA and I have more on order, but nobody else in town carries any and I really need to keep working the pH and TA down on this new pool, short of going all the way into San Antonio which isn't going to happen today. I bought 5 lbs sodium bisulfate from...

    SWG run time and %

What I would do is enable the super chlorinate function on your IC40 for 24 hours and then test again. I would keep doing it until you get your FC at least up to 5-6 ppm, then set it back to 60% and extend your scheduled pump run hours until it maintains the FC level you're wanting to see.

    Measuring DE

I'm just coming back to this post because it's brilliant!! I've kind of broken this down a bit further, albeit non-scientifically. What I've gathered, the middle section of the bucket (~4-8") seems to correlate to 1" per pound of DE. Given that, I have a 48 sqft Pentair DE filter that...

Suggestions on where to get CYA?

I'm a big fan of the liquid CYA strictly for the ease of use. I've heard some say that it's hard to measure because a lot of solids sit at the bottom, but I just shake it REALLY well before measuring it out and it's a consistent mix. I like it because it's just measure, pour, and done...

Prosper, TX - New Build Project

Looks great 80! I just got a new saltwater pool going outside of San Antonio and absolutely loving it! Pool and spa in first post look very similar to what I have, except I'm very jealous of the lounge chairs in the pool. You're going to love your salt system, it's the only way to go IMO...

    Runtimes for Pool/Spa combos?

Hey all, So I've recently installed a new pool/spa combo with a spillover feature as I mentioned in my introduction thread. My question is, what run times and modes are typical for keeping the spa turned over daily? During the warmer parts of the year, I just want to maintain the chemistry the...

New house and pool finally done! (San Antonio area)

Hey everyone, My wife and I have been in the process of having a new home and pool built and have finally completed! We're located just outside of San Antonio, TX, so climate can be pretty nasty. As for the pool, I found a design I liked and contracted everyone out ourselves. Each contractor...
