    Understanding Pool Math Recommendations

Hello All, I tested my water and my pH is 7.4 and Total Alkalinity is 100. Pool math recommends adding 4 lbs of Borax to increase the pH to 7.6. But it also recommends lowering the pH to 7.0-7.2 to reduce the Total Alkalinity. Seems contradictory or I am misunderstanding? Thanks, Eldon

Cloudy water - but normal test results

I few days ago I notice that my water was a bit cloudy. Not bad, be just not the super clear water that I like. We did get a couple inches of rain last week, but nothing out of the ordinary. I have tested my water twice in the past couple of days and everything seems normal. It was not gotten...

    Thinking about a SLAM

After 2 years of a perfect pool following the help on this forum, the past week or so my pool as not been able to get that crystal clear water that I usually have. I have bumped up the chlorinator, but still not change (actually the water maybe a bit worse) - so something must have gotten...

App recommend levels differ from Web

I just download the app and am setting it up for my pool and I noticed that the recommended levels that is suggests for FC are 1-3, but on the web page it shows 3-5 for my pool type. Is this a bug in the app or am I missed something, I have double checked my pool setup on the app - selected...

Recommend Levels TFP Chart vs SWG Manual

Perfect. Nothing mentioned in the manual about warranties, so I definitely will stick TFP. Thank you!

Recommend Levels TFP Chart vs SWG Manual

When looking thru the manual of my chlorinator and noticed that a couple of the recommend levels that it says are different than the tfp chart. The differences are (manual vs tfp chart) FC - 1-3 vs 3-5 CYA 30-60 vs 70-80 TA 80-120 vs 60-80 I did not even know this info was in the manual, I...

Coming off SLAM, now where do I go....

My SWG has been off since since I started SLAM last Friday. I was thinking I would probably need to turn it on tomorrow based upon current fall rate of FC, but I will know for sure when I test tomorrow.

Coming off SLAM, now where do I go....

Diamond Day sound fun! Will do that this weekend with kids over. One question, what do you mean when you say I will need to elevate the FC? Is not 3-5 range I should be in? Or are you saying its going to drop fast once I add the stabilizer so get ready to compensate?

Coming off SLAM, now where do I go....

I am just coming on SLAMing my pool. Water is cleared up and looking great! This morning I did a complete set of tests, here are the results: FC 6 CC 0 pH 7.2 CH 425 CYA 30 TA 80 Salt 3000 If I am understanding things correctly, here are my next steps: 1) Add salt - the manual for my...

    Bad Weekend, starting over

Thanks for the DE info! So if I am reading this correctly I should backwash the filter and then add the DE? Then its is best to add it each time I backwash? Also, I see lowes as a Clorox DE for pools, that OK? One last question, should I wait until water is totally clear and my FC levels...

    Bad Weekend, starting over

    Bad Weekend, starting over

So I ran the overnight test and my FC level stayed the same (at 10) but the water is still a bit cloudy (but WAY better than it was 2 days ago). I would think by tomorrow is will be pretty much all clear if in continues on this path. I am continuing to sweep the pool and the robotic cleaner is...

    Bad Weekend, starting over

Got it. I will do I overnight FC loss test tonight. I am wondering this could be related to the pump problems I was having this weekend? Over the weekend the pump started shutting down after running from 5 to 20 minutes and I could not keep it going. This morning just to try something...

    Bad Weekend, starting over

Thank you! Will turn off the chlorinator and continue the SLAM. What do you mean by "burning out your unit" - are you referring to the pump?

    Bad Weekend, starting over

The pool is not totally clear, it has a slightly milky look to it. If I am reading the charts correctly, since I have a salt water pool my CYA level should be about 70, is that correct? Since its only at 30 do I need to get that up? Also, I have been sweeping the pool and running the...

    Bad Weekend, starting over

Ok, I ran and had posted some test results these weekend, posted the results and started the SLAM process. Then, things didn't going according to plan, we had bad weather, pump problems, etc, - life happens! Good thing is the kids where able to get in the pool a bit around the weather and...

    First test results

I found the difference. When I calculated it the I just used default weight% which was set for 6.0%, when I changed it then we matched. Is 8.25% the standard for most store bought bleachers?

    First test results

Using the pool math page (use 1 as my current FC and 12 as the target) it looks like I should add 6 jugs of 96oz of bleach to shock the pool. Sound right?

    First test results

Got it. Guess I was confused, glad I checked. I thought since I had a salt water pool would look at the SWCG chart. I will go ahead and lower the pH level and then start adding the chlorine.

    First test results

Sounds good, I will get started with the SLAM. I watched the video and have read through the instructions and before I start dumping stuff in my pool just wanted to double check on what I am going.l So based on my results from this morning and looking at the chart and calulater here is what I...

    First test results

We had out pool installed last fall so this is my first season of getting this all figured out. After going to the pool store to get my tests done and buy the recommended chemicals I quickly realized I needed to find a better way to manage the pool if I wanted to have enough money to feed my...

    Filter pressure guage

Ok, I am a total idiot--- The gauge was pointing to the the back of the filter which is along my fence so I never go back there thats why I did not see. Sorry!!! The gauge was reading 5, guess I am assuming that is normal. It it a sand filter (I think), I will look up the model number and...

    Filter pressure guage

Everything is pretty new to me since our pool was just installed last fall. Up to this point I have been taking my water to the pool store and getting it tested and going off their recommendations - don't even want to say how much I have spent there already this spring. Stumbled across this...
