Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Lightmaster, the pool bleach at Walmart is near the garden center in the pool aisles. They don’t stock it there year round though. I’m in Texas but I am new here, so I don’t know when exactly “pool season” begins at Walmart.

I'm no expert, but I would call that pH at 7.3 And I call it "red" when there is no hint of lavender in it. So, your third one. We use the same stirring bar. We just rinse it well. (How cool is that magnetic stirrer? I love it. )

Central Texas Mystery: One or both skimmer lids occasionally come off overnight

I love that he cleans those gross bugs out for me. I will run lights more to make sure he/she always has plenty. I love raccoons. As long as they're not damaging my property they are adorable. I'm really thankful it wasn't a snake

Thank you so much! I can't seem to get TapATalk to show me the subForums.

Direct me to some threads, please?

I know you all discuss pool renovations extensively and maybe it's because I'm using TapATalk but I can't find the proper forum for it. We won't be renovating our pool for a couple of years, but I'm hoping that I can read a bunch of threads and glean info about landscaping around a pool. And...

Thought I was going to get away with it....

I was in about third grade and loved to skim our neighbors' pool and empty the skimmer baskets. A dead possum taught me to look before reaching in. 40 years later, I finally have my own pool and still remember grabbing that possum every dingdang time I open a skimmer cover.

Central Texas Mystery: One or both skimmer lids occasionally come off overnight

Flour is a great idea. Or maybe baby powder because raccoons hate to get it on their paws. I can't decide if I want to deter him though. The only thing in the skimmer was dog hair and spent hibiscus flowers. Kinda nice. It's happened 10-12 times now and the skimmer lids have never been...

Yes, those are our dogs' prints. There has never been any other prints.

Central Texas Mystery: One or both skimmer lids occasionally come off overnight

It happens only in the summer and with or without the pool running. Does this happen to anyone else? Is an animal opening them to eat the beetles from the basket? Is something big exiting the pool through the skimmer opening? We are super confused. Any guesses? ***EDITED TO ADD VIDEO OF...

I can not believe I didn't reply to you two. I know I read the comments... I flaked. We did take your advice and just left the pool open all winter. Easy peasy to maintain, and we ran the heater (which wasn't even supposed to work according to the previous owner - BONUS) during warm weather...

Changing the breaker worked. THANK YOU ALL. I really, really love this place.

Deadpool? Turned on pool filter and boost pump at the same time.

Mkubaki - Hubby disconnected the wires from the motor and tested voltage again - he did not know the power could falsely feed back through the motor. He reports that only one wire is providing 110, and the other is providing none - so it would appear that you are right. He is going to run to...

Deadpool? Turned on pool filter and boost pump at the same time.

Okay. New info. We do not have a centrifugal switch. The motor is switchless. Mkubaki - good catch. He didn't check for that. He will test it again now.

Deadpool? Turned on pool filter and boost pump at the same time.

Will check to see if we can bypass the panel. I doubt it.

Deadpool? Turned on pool filter and boost pump at the same time.

The lights do run through the panel, Zea and yes, Mike there is a centrifugal switch. It's not a VS pump. Next, hubby will check those contacts.

Yes, the pool is wired for 220 and he tested both phases. They are both 110. Yes, we've reset all 8 breakers, 2 on the house 6 at the pad. Yes, we have an Aqualogic control panel.

Deadpool? Turned on pool filter and boost pump at the same time.

Exactly. No hum. Only the relay in the control panel makes its noise.

The impeller (?) main drive shaft in the pump still can be turned freely by hand.

Deadpool? Turned on pool filter and boost pump at the same time.

Hubby is now turning the breaker back on and per the Century 1.5 HP filter pump online manual and using a voltmeter to check if the pump is getting power.

Deadpool? Turned on pool filter and boost pump at the same time.

***PROBLEM SOLVED*** My husband hit both buttons to fire up the pool and side pressure cleaner just now. The boost pump started to rumble so I pounded on the window for him to shut it down. It ran for maybe 15 seconds. Now, after resetting breakers, the pool filter will not turn on. Bonus...

    New pool owner

Welcome, Josh! I was in your shoes one year ago. Fear not. You're in the right place. Our new (to us) pool with spa is inground and freeform too - our CYA was also immeasurable. We were very worried about getting the water in line. Our solution was to just drain it and start over. Best...

Thanks to you all for a wonderful summer of "trouble-free pool-ing". I have not been around because y'all made it so EASY. Hubby and I talked yesterday about what to do with the pool over the winter. I told him I would come and ask the experts. We live in central Texas and I'm thinking...

I just got my TF-100 a week ago and am SO glad I did. Only regret is not ordering the XL version and the speedstir. I could have saved myself some shipping dollars. I already know I'll need more chemicals (reason for XL upgrade) and I'm already sure that mixing errors happen and can...
