I’m moving into my new home May 1st.

The home comes with a salt water pool. I’m a total newbie.

We’re in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, and would like to open the pool asap after moving in. I do plan on hiring someone to do the opening.

Should I pay extra to have them put in unstabalized chlorine? It’s something they offer.

I want to know what I should have on hand to prepare myself. I don’t know if the home even has a pool vacuum they’ll leave for me lol

Someone just posted using a shipping service. Shippsy I think? Or a drop ship service and you cross the border to pick it up.

Thank you for these. Very helpful

I can get the k2006 plus the 1766 locally.

How long approximately does a tf-100 pro last? I know the solutions expire after a year. I’ll probably only use it from May-end of September and they’ll be expired before opening season if I have too much

They are guaranteed for a year (TF). Not sure on the Taylor.
They are both the same Taylor reagents.
Tf are guaranteed fresh.
Many times, Taylor, from Amazon or elsewhere have sat on a hot shelf and don't last as long.
Mine, kept in a cool dark place tend to last ~2 years from TF.

Remember you must get the K2006C - the C matters. Or order refills for FAS-DPD and CYA with the order.

It means the reagent volumes are 2 oz. The regular is 0.75 oz.
You will run out of the FAS-DPD and CYA reagents very quickly.

They are. The TFTestkits kits are sized for the residential pool owner use. So more FAS-DPD and CYA. Less CH test reagents.

Thanks for all of your help.

So here’s what I gather.

I will get the PB to come open the pool. Once they’ve removed the cover, plugs, and reinstalled all the bits and pieces, I test the levels before adding any chemicals.

I know a lot of services do add an initial shock treatment or something, depends on the company. Do I tell them to refrain from doing this? Or do I let them do it, then test the levels and go from there?

Depends on what levels you have in your pool. 'Pool Shock' can be trichlor, dichlor, cal hypo, or liquid chlorine. The first three can add something you may or may not need besides the chlorine.

Personally, I would have them open the pool and get the pump running. Run the pump for the rest of the day and test the chemistry the next morning. Then see what needs to be adjusted.

I would not add anything until you test. Basic TFP...know where you are, using appropriate testing, THEN, add what you need.

Might read through this...

Thank you. Been reading all afternoon, my head is spinning 😂Just wanted to confirm I’ve understood correctly.

Thanks for all of your help.

Now, off to decide on a vac!
