I have *2* dogs who would have LOVED to taste that IC60 power cord so I grabbed a milk crate and skilsaw to fashion up a nochew9000.

Nice work! Gonna put those up on your etsy storefront?
Yessir. You can find me at Itaintprettybutitworks inc. Est 1976.

What's up with the valve box?
Glad you asked as I'm not 100%. At first I was thinking they gave me an anode but now I'm thinking water bond. Clearly I haven't paid enough attention in the Under Construction forum, but to be fair I was often too busy gawking at everybody's pics.

Fun fact. I was born 1 year, to the day, before Elvis died. And then in 2018, the queen of soul leaves us on that same date. So, the King of Rock and Roll, and the Queen of Soul, share the same departure date.

That fact has won me more than 1 bar bet. LOL.

Does anyone have any experience with Hayward 3 way valves ? I had Pentairs at the old place and on the above ground we inherited here. I don't remember seeing them mentioned as Jandy Neverlubes and the Pentairs get all the love here. These feel like JUNK in comparison but it could just be the flimsy handle.

Beggars can't be choosers in a supply shortage world, so I'm happy that I have valves at all. Mr Right Valve ain't happening so I'm happy with Mr Right Now Valve. But should I be ready to replace them at my earliest opportunity?

I have a buddy that has them on his pool. I can almost guarantee he has never taken them apart and lubed them in the 13 years since he built the pool. I will confirm with him today.

Although that speaks to the quality 13 years ago, not now, I would hope they were still the same.

Still. It's a start that at least they were good. So THANKS. :salut:

The flimsy handle comes off with a silly plastic knob and can be easily replaced. I'm OK with that when needed if the guts don't match the quality of the handle.

It also has 100 or so click stops when moving the handle. I'm OK with that as I never needed the infinite control of the Pentair with smooth turning, but the click stops feel really cheap like winding up a happy meal toy. You know how you can feel properly meshed quality gears ? Well, not like that. Not like that at ALL. And unlike the happy meal toy, I won't lose interest in the valves 15 mins later when it breaks, so. :ROFLMAO:

I have them on my plumbing. At a year old they work fine. We will see about long term.

Ooooooof. Look at me acting like a newb in my own build thread. We got tried and true full blown experts for this sorta thing. @ajw22 @Jimrahbe. What's the skinny on the Hayward 3 ways ? Are they good enough or just good enough for now ?

Yeah, confirmed with him this morning as soon as I got to the office. He's never taken his apart.

So they used to be good quality, at least.

I'm with Jim, I don't have any reason to believe that they wouldn't be fine.

At first glance they looked nice and beefy. At first turn it was happy meal toy. 🤦‍♂️

But Yay !! I have Mr-Right-Now Valves and if they last 15 years I might buy em again next time. Here's to hoping.

Thanks all for the thoughts. (y)

So as I was leaving work, my foot got real cold, so i went to visit the PB. Now. Where might I warm up my foot there ? Well, y'alls some of the smartest folks I know, so use your imajamanations. ;)

They fired GC and his son because i wasn't the only bass ackwards build going on. The 10 year excavator sub laying down a him or me ultimatum was the final straw. I filled the store manager in on the headaches that have already been mostly solved and they didn't know the half of it. PB was out but called me a while later and he swears they will do better. I feel better about it this evening than I did this morning. Kinda like the valves, time will tell.

Aretha was born in Memphis, Tennessee the same city where Elvis died at his Graceland home and is still buried today.

Aretha was born at home address of 406 Lucy Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee which is only 6 miles from Graceland at 3764 Elvis Presley Boulevard

A group called the The Sweet Inspirations worked with Elvis and Aretha as backup vocals on many songs.

Mac Davis wrote “A Little Less Conversation” for Aretha Franklin but Elvis ended up making it a hit.

In 1948, Babe Ruth (aka The Sultan of swat) died in New York at age 53.

So, a king, queen and a sultan are all connected.

Little known fact (that only I know): Elvis and Aretha had a child together - His name was Prince. - True Story.
