seafoam green pool....stumped just about everyone!!!

I think that you probably have algae and iron.

Does the fill water contain a lot of iron?

Once you get the water clear of algae, you can maybe treat the iron.

Can you show a picture of the cartridge before you clean it?

Drop a vitamin C tablet on the floor to see if it makes a clean spot.
So we had iron when we first filled the pool (per pool store testing). We fixed that and it was good for a mont and a half. According to pool store tests as of now we don’t have iron.

Will definitely take a pic of it and post. We had algae for sure but pretty sure we killed it all. I’m thinking what is left is dead algae. It’s just been a pain to get out. We had a weak pump for 3 days and have been running the newer pump for 2 days. So 5 days total but the last 2 days we have seen the most improvement since using the new pump.

Here is the photo of the cartridge before cleaning. Cleaned it at 7 am so this is after almost 9 hours of the pump running.

You're making progress.

Complete the SLAM and see what it looks like.

I suspect that you will have some iron stains in brown and yellow at the completion of the SLAM, so don't let that throw you off.

Yay! That makes me happy. Honestly I haven’t even started SLAM yet because I am waiting on my test kit to arrive to have accurate starting levels.

This progress has just been from me maintaining high chlorine levels and brushing/filtering for 5 days. I didn’t find out about this forum and SLAM until two days ago.

Holy cow !!! No matter how many times I see the undersized Intex filters, I’m always amazed. My 400 gallon hot tub had a similar sized filter. For reference this is what I bought for me new pool. It’s 7 X the gallons but the filters are over 2 ft wide. 16DE494B-8AF6-4440-84FA-B69E991045E1.jpeg

The point is that it is going to take a lot of time for the filter to do its job. It will need to be cleaned often. When the process drags on, it’s Intex’s fault and not the process. Search around when you have some moments going forward and you can probably score a much bigger used system on FB marketplace / OfferUp for cheap. Many folks will be trying to unload them towards the end of the season when they don’t need them anymore. Just like boats, their value plummets in September. :)

Makes sense. I just upgraded to this pump two days ago and it already filters more in one day than the old one did in 3 days. I got it brand new in the box off an app. I’m not very familiar with pumps or pools in general and reviews for this pump said I would need all kinds of gaskets and nuts and bolt things and I ended up not needing to buy anything extra!

Sweet !!! So it will work that much better than the old one. Still though, prepare yourself now mentally for some waiting. The patience part gets us all. Don’t lose sight of the finish line and have a tasty beverage to pass the time. The process is amazing. It just takes some time sometimes.

Ahhhh thanks so much for that. I am absolutely paranoid at algae coming back once it’s all gone 😩
