I've read threads on filter size and there seems to be no such thing as too big. However, I don't want to overspend for the sake of size. I have a 150 cartridge filter. Is that OK for my size pool? I all but positive mine is lacking a solid seal. It might be time to replace.

You live in Florida, for some reason every pool there has a tiny filter.

You should have a minimum of 300 sf or preferably a 400+ SF cartridge filter. Goal is to clean it once or at most twice per year.

Sand filters are easy. They do take water to clean. And a place for that water (yours would be salt water) to go. You would be needing to add salt, CYA, etc to counterbalance the loss when you backwash.

A 24" sand filter should work for your pool volume. You can, of course, go larger if you like.
