IntelliCenter and autocover monitoring

Bumping this thread as it always seems to end...

Has there been a way using the pentair IntelliCenter Control System Pool Cover Expansion Card (P/N 522039Z) to monitor the covers position if it's not a coverstar cover? I have an integra cover on my fiberglass leisure pool.
Would be nice to shunt fountain and waterfall operation and lower salt Gen output while cover is closed.

Easiest way would just be a magnetic reed sensor to relay to the intellicenter that the cover is "open" or in a fully unclosed position.
The released version of the manual shows for a digital encoder to be setup on the non motor end. Can I get one to use on the integra? As it also shows that the analogue inputs are "not used"... Which presumably would be needed for a simple reed switch. Not sure if they are defeated or just not used with encoder wiring.

Any help would be awesome.
I program automation subsystems for a living, So I should be able to figure it out.

Thanks in advance.

Pool jets

Hello all,
We just reopened our pool.
The pool company takes the pool jets out to plug the holes for winterization. They take the entire mechanism out when doing this. Which is the outer thread, the directional eye ball and the pipe that is inside the pool. I tried putting them back in but it doesn't go all the way in to be flush with the pool wall. What should I do? Do I force it in by tapping it in there? Or do people use some kind of grease to slide the mechanism all the way in?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Stenner Pump tubing cracks

It's true, the tubing from Pentair is crazy expensive:
Pentair 522384 Tubing for IntellipH Controllers Chemical Injection

@JoyfulNoise, can you recommend a resource for the OP to purchase a like product (acid and chlorine "proof") at a reasonable cost? Some sort of chemistry supply shop?

Stenner Pump tubing cracks

My tubing has been connected to my pump (also a Stenner) for many years without a problem. I used the tubing that came with my IntellipH acid dispensing system, which I expect is properly rated for the acid. And I encase all tubing and wires, everywhere around my pad that might see the sun, in wire loom, like this:

That wire loom is UV rated. It cracks. And I used to use zip ties that were UV rated. They would break. As near as I can tell, "UV rated" means next to nothing. I replaced all my zip ties with stainless steel wire, and purchased a large roll of wire loom, to make it cheap to replace.

Use the proper tubing and keep it out of the sun.

What is the best way to lower water with solid cover on?

Don't discount patio runoff. It can be considerable for some pools.

Just pop a corner and drop a submersible in. I drain 2 or 3 times over the winter with a mesh cover and might spend an hour total on it. I pick days I'm going to be home and spend most of the time doing whatever else but that, while it drains. Setup and breakdown takes 5 mins each.

People do leave quality pumps in there all year but I wouldn't. If you do, use one thats oil free in case it poops the bed.

ScreenLogic - Activate Schedules?

Scott,

I asked about the egg-timers because you can only have 12 total schedules and that includes the egg-timers not at the default time..

Just to be clear.. Are you saying that at 7 am, your 'High Speed' does not turn green? Or are you saying that your pump does not change speeds?? These are two very different things.

Please tell me what pump speed is associated with your schedules.

I don't understand why you have a 'Pool speed' circuit and a 'Pool' circuit???

I assume you want the Pool Circuit to be on 24/7.. To do that it is best use the same start time and stop time.. Like... 8 am to 8 am. (That should not be your problem..)

Show me a pic of the screen on your EasyTouch..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Time to swim! (I think??)

Welcome back !!!

And maybe dealing w the CH, which for a vinyl pool I’ve not spent any time worrying about? I’ve not tested it in forever…
If you want to throw $75 out the window, skip the CH and mail a check to Newdude with a capital N. I will help you scratch that itch because we are old friends.

TIA.

24' above ground pool took a real beating this winter, repairable?

I'm in an area which gets significant amount of snow, so I figured mother nature would catch up with me someday, but this is a weird failure. While the liner is obviously toast, the pool wall itself is just gone around the return outlet. There was no visible physical damage at the end of last season.

I can't find much about patching this type of damage, or if it's even worth it. Ignoring the cost of the liner (I was planning on replacing it this season anyways), is this repairable? I'm considering getting rid of it due to lack of use, unless it's an affordable fix. Pool is about 15 years old, liner is 4-5 years old.
Hi. I just posted a similar Q. My pool rusted this winter only by the skimmer and return jets all the way to the bottom wall. Rest of the pool is in GREAT shape. I want to repair the 5-7 foot section of pool wall. I think it can be done. Im seeking guidance on this. What did you decide to do to remedy your issue?

SWG before multiport?

I'm sorry I'm not sure I have properly explained myself.

The plumbing I have is pool -> pump -> multiport -> filter -> multiport -> pool/waste.

I'm not taking about putting the SWG before the filter, I mean after the filter but before coming back to the multiport.

Although I have seen the "not before pump" disclaimer many times I have never seen the multiport discussed, so I don't know if it counts for the "last thing in line" stuff...

Just wanted to be sure because I will spend the money on redoing the plumbing if necessary (the peace of mind of having a SWG looks very sweet), but I don't wanna make a fool of myself if it's not needed since that would be a bit of money 😅

24' round x 52" pool wall needing replacement needed

Hi. I need to replace a section of my pool wall. The holes around the skimmer and return jet have rusted through. The rust continues down the pool wall. Its is deep rust, not only on the surface. Where can I get a replacement wall piece, or kit for the repair? Has anyone done this or have. advice to share? I might be able to get a sheet from my local metal recycling company. I like the idea of this having the holes cut.
This video is a good one. Hopkins pool must be out of business. I cannot find a contact. Login to view embedded media
