Hello from Rockwall, Texas!

Hey everyone! I've been creeping a while, but finally decided to join up and chip in where I can! I live in Texas and have a 20k gallon pool with a hot tub (which I love) that I take care of myself (which I hate). I'm running pretty much all Pentair stuff, and am not afraid to do stuff myself or take things apart when needed. I look forward to getting to know you guys!

Iaqualink and Jandy Heater

Just FYI - Green does not call for heat, red does. Your pool temp is 81. What is your set temp? As pictured, your heater will not turn on.
Correct as mentioned it does nothing. I set it to 100 and it did nothing but turn green. I will have to figure out where the firemans switch (loop) is on that heater and change over to that. But I might run a new control wire first to make sure its not just the wire.

I did see they have a bunch of control wires tied together with wire nuts. Where I have all of mine going to the connector itself.

Hello, forgot to introduce myself

Owned a pool for a few years. Before I found this site, I was going to the pool store and taking their advice. Pool chemistry was out of control. 1 year ago I bought the recommended pool water testing kit and have not gone back to the pool store since. No giant algae blooms, wasting chlorine, etc. Online pool calculator makes it such a breeze that I don't even bother to use the chemicals add charts from the kit anymore and have not had any issues.

Understanding Pool Math Recommendations

Hello All,

I tested my water and my pH is 7.4 and Total Alkalinity is 100. Pool math recommends adding 4 lbs of Borax to increase the pH to 7.6. But it also recommends lowering the pH to 7.0-7.2 to reduce the Total Alkalinity.

Seems contradictory or I am misunderstanding?

Thanks,

Eldon
Pool math is only a calculator, not a set of guidelines. The targets can be edited and initial values are just set to the middle of the recommended range.
