What's your current pool temp?

We've already been swimming once since the snowpocalypse, but the heater has been off since then. The water is sitting at 71F / 22C right now, we'll probably be warming it up again at least once since the kids are out of school for spring break.

Heck, we could probably file it under 'therapy'. Felt really good to kinda put aside all the stress from the previous weeks, if only for a little while.
I read thats how you can activate your sleep/relax side of your nervous system. Take a cold shower. Somebody commented " that would release my girl scream"

We are opening April 3rd and I cannot wait! April will mostly be for the dogs (we have a family style dog boarding business). We splurged for a heater this year, which should arrive late April. So hoping the humans can get in starting in May!

If that is outdoors, what is that structure over the pool in your pic? You folks in Fla have a strange notion of outdoors. Outdoors with a screen enclosure is not outdoors to me... ;)
Hey, the screen just keeps you from getting eaten alive - doesn’t prevent sunburn!

So, you consider a screened enclosure that allows wind and sun through all day to the pool to be "indoors"? Your house would be awful cold in most parts of the country :)

This is my first pool with a screened enclosure, and now I wish I had done this in GA. Keeps bugs out AND keeps the pool reasonably cool during the hot summer months. It also is the cleanest pool I've ever had. I wouldn't ever build a pool again without a screened enclosure.

And it does significantly reduce the risk of sunburn. Screen cuts down the sun a lot. I can stay out all day in my screened enclosure and pool, and not get sunburn. If I go outside the cage and work, I'll get red in a couple of hours.

I agree, my sister had one in Fl years ago and it was nice. I debated adding one for my pool in Atlanta but doubt the HOA would allow it.

Do you make a distinction between a screened in patio and one that is not? Well the pool definitely not "Outdoors"... its "Screened".. Just a definition of terms. An outdoor pool is exposed to all the elements of the outdoors, full sun, bugs, branches, leaves, rain. etc. I am not debating the advantages of having a screened in pool.. Screens are awesome and sometimes I wish I had a screen over my pool to keep the tree snot out this time of year. Its just that a screened in pool will be subject to different conditions than a truly outdoor pool. That's why the distinction needs to be made... just sayin' ;)

Pretty sure that from the TFP perspective, screened is still outdoors. We need CYA, etc.
Correct, I don't think it makes any difference... you still follow the same FC/CYA Levels..
And it does significantly reduce the risk of sunburn.
And if that is the case, it blocks UV.. so one would expect to see less Cl loss due to UV degradation. But you still follow the same chart.

48 here in NE, but as someone mentioned above, we're still in hot tub season...that's at 101. Will pull the cover at 55...SO excited for this season!!

I’m all thawed out. My water is frigid. I didn’t take a temp yesterday when I spun in some chlorine. I’m on track I think for end of March opening like last year. I think. Lol
Tell me about adding in some chlorine now - we are in similar environments being only an hour away. I'm wondering if i should add some? We plan to open the weekend of April 3...

Nothing will be drastically changing this week temperature wise. You can easily wait atleast another week before the possibility of chlorine to be necessary. Just my take.
