What did you do to your pool today?

Winning!
Thought that the cool weather we have had the last week that sapped 8 degrees out of the pool was a bit unfair.
We are having a sunny afternoon that has heated up the rock of the waterfall.
Ran the waterfall to collect all that heat and managed to gain a few degrees back.

Had the cover on the last two weeks, checked temp today 55 degrees. Cleaned pump strainer of the few leaves that had gotten sucked in. Fooled around with "Freddie" our suction side cleaner, made sure he was still working. Disconnected power to SWG, still going to run pump in the early morning hours to keep water moving, until end of leaf season or Canadian Thanksgiving, then partial drain/winterize. Mucho sadness :(

I am also quite interested in heat pumps for pools - I installed one in my former home in Virginia and loved it. I am now researching and learning all about heat pumps for pools.

As for the original post - "what did you do to your pool today?"...unfortunately it was closing day today...bummer...leaves are dropping.

Leebo, we gonna get a tutorial about this heat pump and installation process? some of us (ie me) that would love step by step with prictures could really, really use that information for the good of our own pool! :sun:

Drained out 5" of water that was added by Mother Nature last night, brushed, and added chlorine. Need to scoop out some leaves so I can close, hoping for nicer weather sometime soon. Water temp was 64.

Did you get in to 64 degree water?? lol

Had my pool cleaned and spotless last night in preparation for closing today - woke up today to 2.75" of overnight rain as well as nearly every leaf in the neighborhood resting comfortably in the pool...got it closed though.

Water temp 64 here too.

scooped a pine cone off the bottom this morning then emptied the skimmer basket.

In one day it was LOADED with those 5 inch long double pine needles and 6 large pine cones.

Neighbors tree and the limbs are too high to trim....gggrrr

Shotgun???????? LOL Several good shots will bring the branch down! LOL Your neighbors may never forgive you but.........it is fun!

Bob I can hear her now.........."But I'm not coooollllllllllldddddddddddddddd" as she shivers and snuggle up to you! LOl

Pool company closed today. I spent 1.5 hours cleaning 33 gallons of leaves and branches in the pouring rain this morning. Water was still warm at 70 degrees but the leaves were killing me. I'm hoping to remove 7 overhanging poplar trees this winter.

No, brushed what I could reach from the deck and the ground. Nothing too strenuous, I sprained my ankle the other day. I should know better than to stand on a resin lawn chair, in the dark.....

There was something running on the (metal) roof of our one story home. Not my finest moment. Lol. It was keeping me awake. I never did figure put what it was, ha ha. I'm sure my yell of pain scared it off. I made the Med Express doctor laugh when I said I wished it were something more interesting or heroic, like saving a kitten from a tree, ha ha.

We've had rain everyday here in Durham NC since the weekend. Yesterday we closed the pool and put the winter cover on. Since we are expected to get 4-9" of rain in the next 4 days, today I found the cover pump and put it on the mesh cover. I'm lowering the water level 3" in advance of storms. I just hope the wind is not category strength or there will be tons of power outages. Similar situation occurred with Fran in 1995. Several lesser hurricanes passed through and had dropped a steady fall of rain. Ground was soaked. Fran can through and uprooted everything. I'm not liking Joaquin one bit.

borjis, Have you gone through the rest of the equipment with a fine tooth comb? The sand? gaskets for the filter valve? Oh and the heater??????? I have no idea what to tell you to look for but I am sure there is something to look over.......

Threw on the leaf cover, leaves are falling already & water temp is just breaking 60F so I'm still running the pump & maintaining the water.

Expecting high 60's low 70's for highs this week, but hoping to completely close next weekend if the water temp cooperates. :(

I just had to share because I still can't believe I did this today.

Had turned the heat off last week so temp coud drop and hopefully I can close before the big maple drops ;)

So temp this a.m. was 64 degrees.

I'd forgotten to pull the little pool drink table out of the shallow end. Lifted it up and the base was left behind.

Broke the leaf net trying to move it toward the steps.

Finally, i disrobed, waded in and picked that sucker up off the pool floor.

Holy mother of god those Sweeds are crazy with their hot-cold therapy polar dips is all I'll say ;)

The sand seems ok, but probably do a deep clean when I replace the top o-ring gasket to the multiport valve as it drips a drop of water every couple of hours.

the heater is also the timer and all seems to be in order but I have not fired it yet.
