Thinking of upgrading pump - any advice on best options?

We have an 18' x 9' above ground pool and a sand filter pump which has a maximum flow rate of 1050 gallons per hour or 4000 litres per hour.

If we want to invest in an automatic cleaner, would this be powerful enough to work effectively? The current vacuum we use is pretty ineffective, so I was wondering if it will be worth upgrading, and wanted to get your insights and advice on this before spending any money.

I read that dual speed is worth consideration also..
