Testing kits question - new pool fill

Be sure you tell the chem guy that you added CYA. It is likely they will add it later without testing. Remember, they are not that concerned with chemistry levels. They just do whatever to keep the pool sort of clear and no visible algae.

Oh how I HATE the CYA test  If only there was another one so we have to learn to live with it.

This is what I do to make peace with it:
-Mix solution
-pour to first line
-GLANCE in (do NOT look for the dot) GLANCE in then look away.
-pour to next line
-GLANCE in

Repeat until you don't see the dot at a GLANCE.

I would not bother testing for it until the CYA is dissolved and had at least 24 hours to mix in good.

I got liquid CYA just for this time to get it in...will switch to granules next go around for sure...felt the price pain at the register.

Says add to skimmer or pour around perimeter pool. Any best way to do it?

Liquid chlorine at Walmart was in stock, got it ready to rock.

Pour it slowly into the skimmer. It can stain your pool surface if you pour directly into the pool.

Trying to figure out what this is on the surface of pool...oil or something? It's looks to be all over the surface. Screenshot_20230827_122356_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230827_122617_Gallery.jpg

Nothing that I can think of. I'm going to message the PB Chem guy tomorrow Monday and send him some photos and ask what's up.

We had pebble company out Friday they sanded down some sharp areas...

Almost reminds me of oil or something sitting on surface of water.

The oil should stick to the tennis balls. Rather than foul your filter cartridges.

No one used the pool with sunscreen on, right?

Hmmm let me ask my wife. I believe they put on a little spray on zinc based clear sunscreen the other day.

With your dark plaster as a background, anything that floats on your water will show up.

It can be used. Plan to clean the tile line, skimmer, and filter more often when it is used. Best to apply it, wait 30 minutes or so, then swim. It will not just be washed right off.

They swam a few times, I believe used barely any sunscreen (waiting on wife confirmation) and this stuff is covering all the pool surface it looks like, 36x18 rectangle pool + the spa surface.

Maybe some construction residue left over....weird.
