So this happened

Agreed, I got mine done last year and they drilled the holes right through pavers and put those pipes down into the hole and then the anchors went right into those pipes.
This is a great time to remind everybody to ALWAYS get everything in writing. Last time they broke 2 patio blocks when installing the tubes and told me not to worry about it, they would just replace them in the spring.

In the spring the service manager and assistant were new. 🤦‍♂️ While i got greeted by name and white glove service with the old people, the new ones didnt know me from Adam. They ultimately believed me and replaced the blocks and drilled new holes, but I had to get a bit animated over it.

… but I had to get a bit animated over it.

It’s cool to see the patio and pool facing towards the house! You can really see it all coming together. I bet you can’t wait until next year to actually enjoy your new space. Make sure to set up a nice lounger or hammock for yourself with the best view.

know you missed pool maintenance terribly!
The Mrs saw me testing the other day and was all worried asking me what was wrong. 🤣

The simpool 2.0 was designed to all but manage itself, but I explained that I did need to verify it was doing so occasionally.

How windy was it today ?

Well, the left half of my yard straw was in the pool, and the universe kindly opened my skimmer for me.

She's SO thoughtful.

The old pool went through 9 years of storms / hurricanes / etc and never once lost a skimmer lid. :ROFLMAO:

*also, I chose the correct skimmer placement. They were PACKED with straw. Woohoo.

Wow! Haha. We had crazy wind here yesterday too. Must have been all try state. I feel like half my neighbors tree was in my skimmer.

Must have been fun cleaning all that straw out.

It's still going. I woke up to both the skimmer lids missing. :ROFLMAO:

I bought 3 bales of straw for $17 each and on day 5 I'm seeing why we don't do this here, besides the price. I really needed 6 bales and for that cost, I could have just gone with 50% more seed.

I'm pretty sure the wind is due to the Cat 4 offshore and headed on by to slam Novia Scotia today.

Dang! Yeah I guess the straw thing isn’t best in some places! I almost forgot yeah the hurricane is offshore! That makes sense now cuz it was definitely more windy than usual.

I never knew it was a thing until here. Since I've been on TFP, I've seen it once while driving around. And between work and the kids, I log some MILES on the road. I also believe that was the first time I'd ever seen straw used for seed. It was probably a Midwest transplant. :ROFLMAO:

It's even a step on the bags of seed. We just don't do it here. $17 a bale was the first light bulb. But with the dogs playing in the yard I figured I could really use some extra protection. Until half of it blew away.

I've seen it around here. Never realized it was for seed. I always thought it was used for erosion control until the seed would sprout and root in.

You're probably right on it being a midwest transplant thing.
